Plane ride in from Red Lake Ontario, maybe the neatest part of the trip.

My dad with a decent Wally. It’s funny, the air here is clear and just fine. It was hot, no wind, around mid 80’s. It’s me my dad, my son, an uncle, 2 cousins and one of their kids. All family.

Awesome. 30 yrs ago and 26 yrs ago I got to go up there with a high school buddy and his dad and uncle. They would go up every year over July 4 week. They used outfitter Big Hook Outfitters, probably long gone.
We would drive up to Red Lake and fly into a lake with only 1 cabin on it. Man it was awesome.
Glad you guys were able to go and enjoy it up there smoke free!

Here is my big pike. It took me all week. That was about 26 yrs ago. We released it after the pic. They had just implemented a trophy rule, allowed 1 over a specific size. Caught it on a small vibrax inline spinner. Those were some good days. We caught walleye on every bait we owned including zara spooks.

Well probably 50 years ago (I was 10-11) my dad and myself were invited on a Canada fishing trip with my neighbor, his father, brother, and a close friend. Our destination was the Quetico Provincial Park. We stowed all of our stuff in those big duluth packs and 3 canoes. Had a small outboard that we put on one canoe and towed the other 2 and portaged 52 miles. What an amazing trip especially for a 10 year old kid. Similar to Duff we caught smallmouth on everthything we threw at them....especially Creek Chub's injured minnows. So many firsts for me....beaver, bear, and wolves and not seeing any trash/litter. I remember thinking on one of the portages that was really muddy where the mud would suck my boots down....that a bear or wolves would get me and all they would find would be my boots stuck in the mud.
Hope you guys have a great time.....making memories that will last forever!

Yesterday was the first day we had a strong straight west wind, and it was a little hazy. We’ve had way worse in good ol Indiana. Today the wind was more southwest, still pretty strong, didn’t notice a thing.

My son, his second cousin and the young girl that stays here at camp with her grandparents. And of course, a sunset like I’ve never seen. It’s a beautiful place.

Did a little sight seeing too. These are some rapids at the end of the neighboring lake. About a 30 foot drop in 200 yards. Just an amazing sight.
