Hey Everyone, We have the new County Bonus Antlerless Quotas posted on-line now. It is not posted on the website for the electronic Hunting Guide (because that is not out yet and that is an external site). But we do have the quotas posted in several places in the DNR websites. I have also posted a brief summary about the effect of EHD in the southeastern part of the state. That is especially relevant for the County Bonus Antlerless Quotas for this year because there are a couple of zeros (0) in there (for Franklin and Fayette counties). www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/wildlife-resources/wildlife-diseases-in-indiana/epizootic-hemorrhagic-disease-ehd/epizootic-hemorrhagic-disease-areas/ Let me know if you have any questions. joe Joe N. Caudell, Ph.D. State Deer Project Leader Indiana DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife * Please let us know about the quality of our service by taking this brief customer survey. www.surveymonkey.com/r/FLNDLW8

If we don't get some regular rains in SE IN soon it is going to be another bad EHD year. I have one livestock pond completely dried up already , 3 other ponds dn over a foot. Never seen it this dry, this early.

I really dont understand why any county is more than a 2. Auto accidents and crop damage would be my guess… we will never have a large herd like we did in past. Modern and long range equipment keeps that in check IMO

I'm honestly surprised Decatur is a 2. Deer sightings in the northwest quadrant was normal last season, the southwest down about 50%, but the other half was down closer to 80%. The valley we are in went to a 2 max per property (1 per hunter) last year and most properties that didn't have kids hunting went no doe to try to help things out.

Not sure we will ever see many counties below a 2 unless they stop selling the popular “Bundle” license which came about to help reduce the herd when prop2 was passed.

Never seen it this dry, this early. That's why whenever someone asks me about designing a pond I invariably always say make it 12' deep minimum, better to go 15' and 20' if you can afford it. Make the bank slope no steeper than 2:1 in clay soils, 3:1 in sandy soils but make sure that the area that is closest to the house or major land use area 4:1 or 6:1 out to 6 or 7 foot water depth. That way almost no matter what the water level is there will still be water for fish to get thru the winter, and you can easily access the water at least at one spot on the pond. My personal pond has bounced between being 5' to 7' (vertically) low since May 2020. I am now mowing where the water would have been 6' deep..........
