I heard the closure until fall has been extended indefinitely because of every amenity has damage. I would love to see as many outdoors people as possible send a letter to their state representatives encouraging the use of some of the "rainy day" surplus the state has to repair/replace/recreate the campground and amenities of Indiana's oldest state park. If this event doesn't fit "rainy day fund" reasoning then I can't imagine what would.
Personally, I think this presents a perfect opportunity to build the outdoors program showing future generations the destructive, creative, regenerative, and survival forces nature possesses.

I would think there should be a good bit money made from salvaging timber throughout the park. I know...... logging is a big NO NO for some people, but there has to be 100's of blowdowns and "widow makers" needing cut that will absolutely go to waste if they aren't salvaged.

I'm thinking with the DNR already under funded, I want to make sure the rebuild isn't short changed or other ar3as suffer because of money constraints.

One of those perks of being a government entity. Our trucks have a paper or something in the glove box that you produce in the event of an accident. I'll have to ask our office gals. I know the pace of getting anything done can be glacial. Clifty was going to upgrade the electric service to the campground. By the time it was approved they were ready to start--on Memorial Day. This of course didn't happen and here we are a year later.
