A Louisville councilman claims that he was targeted during a traffic stop because he is black and had just voted against a funding proposal for the police department. He was "forced from his car" and "life was threatened." For the record, he was stopped because his license plates were expired for....wait, wait...over a year! Not a day, week, or month, a full year.
WDRB did an investigation and invited the councilman to watch the body cam video with a reporter. I'll just say it once, all present officers were NOTHING but polite, professional, and even social with the councilman and his girl friend throughout the entire video. The first thing the councilman says to the officers is that he "may" have a handgun under the seat and "would you like me to get out of the car so you can look?" He twisted that into being "forced" from his vehicle. He did in fact have a legal handgun under the seat. Good by him to disclose that. Several peaceful conversations took place after that. At the end of the video an officer advised him that, if he is going to arm himself, to keep a round in the chamber in case he needs it. The councilman twisted into a threat against his life.
The councilman said that he wandered if he was going to die when he saw the blue lights in his mirror and still gets anxiety thinking about the incident. Both the former (white female) and current (black female) chief of police have declined to do any sort of investigation into the matter.
