Congratulations Jay! I'm glad you found a nice new rig to haul you and Luke's trophy's around in! Thank you. I'm looking forward to something a little more modern and dependable. I havent had too many problems, until lately. Breakdowns are starting to add up quickly, and I couldn't risk rolling the dice any longer.

Cool beans! Good for you. One good thing about the bed cover. No stacks. It's a hard panel type that folds up in sections. So with the locking tailgate, there's some security. I dont necessarily like the short bed, but I've had them recently so used to it by now. I dont really haul too much cargo, so it will be fine. I like truck caps too, so I will see if he has anything floating around. I like the easy clamps, so can be taken off and on depending what's needed.

The plow he had is now on the tractor. If he gets soft then he will need to find one so he can sit in a heated cab to plow snow. LOL

That has NOT been our case with the insurance, EVER! We've always had full comp due to financing. In fact, one I bought was a totalled unit, got hit, and totalled it a second time. Then, I bought it back for a couple hundred iirc. So, you may want to shop around on insurance to see if it's just them. As said, we have bought 9 trucks so far, all rebuilt titles, and never a problem with financing or insurance. Interesting. Our insurance company (Auto-Owners) wouldn't insure ours for anything above liability. Just got insurance set up on the new ride. Indiana Farmers covers it 100% full value on rebuilt title. They were happy it was professionally repaired and bought from a dealer. Maybe that is the difference?

We have been slowly dragging our feet on everything. I have been waiting to make sure my new employer was gonna work out right before I signed on the dotted line. Sounds like things are moving along, so I picked up the check today. Truck is now getting detailed so will be on the road next week.
Next project is getting the old truck cleaned up to sell. Same guy I'm buying from has somebody interested in it already, for way more than I expected it to bring. Fingers crossed on that deal too.

Rebuilt is after made whole again and deemed road worthy. I've been thru this procedure many times since 1996. It's the only way I can afford a nice ride. Nothing wrong with used parts, for SOME repairs. Obviously a reputable business is paramount in this situation.

Guess if someone pays enough things could change… maybe not.

As fas as insuring rebuilt title vehicles for comprehensive coverage, it must just vary company to company. Mine wouldn't, if I give that car to my daughter I may have to look into it a bit more. I was of the impression nobody would, clearly I was mistaken about that. As far as Salvage title, Indiana won't even register or plate one. It has to be converted to rebuilt to put it on the road. Other states may be different.

If you rebuild a salvage title yourself is there an inspection process to get it to a rebuild title?

Maybe that is the difference? Good deal! What do they consider the value reduction to be between clean/rebuilt titles? My one bank would NOT lone a dime on the rebuilt. My other go to bank has changed to only loaning 50% on rebuilt. I put all my info into their lap, including all the prior vehicles they've loaned on, credit score, my loyalty to them, etc. They kicked in an extra 30%, so I'm on the hook for 20% of total, which I planned on applying similar amount anyway. So it worked out fine. Things have changed. Prior, they always loaned us 100%.

I looked up Kelley Blue Book, they say a rebuilt is worth 20-40% less, I guess that's probably what insurance would pay out. Anyway, that's a sweet looking truck and I'm jealous!
