Every time that happens in our area and SW Michigan just north, the apple crop suffers. At least in my neighborhood, nothing is safe from frost until at least Mothers Day or dang near Memorial Day. Our heating time frame is from November thru May now.

I mowed a few small areas today. They were all heavily seeded last fall and fertilized as well. Not long after I was done I heard a motor going and saw a neighbor down the road doing the same. I've never mowed in February before.

Good news...the hurricane last night blew away most of the snow, so no plowing today.

It's been spring like since Feb 1st this year. Silver and Red maples about finished. Now the cherry and crab apples are getting close. I see buds forming on the Red Buds trees. It's 3 weeks early. About a dozen flowers blooming. I will be checking hives in the next two weeks and putting supers on. Swarms will be starting in about a month. Maybe in three weeks.

Was down along the Ohio river this weekend. Things are considerably further along and greener than they are an hour north of Indy.

Got all the parts purchased except for the steel angle that gets bolted to the trailer. That needs to get plasma cut out, bent then I need to weld the spring perches on it. I'm re-engineering the whole suspension system. Going from an equalizer system to a slipper system.
