Beautiful old axe. Great find and I suspect you have done considerable study on axe. One did know and you did. Is it one piece or is the blade a separate piece of steel? However it was made the heat treatment is right on. Bit sharp and the butt barely peened over. I am no expert on axes I had to look up the proper terms. buyaxesonline.com/axe-buyers-guide/axe-anatomy-identifying-parts-axe/

My guess would be from one piece of good steel. Some axes had a harder type of steel forge welded into the edge. There was a newer hatchet for sale along with this one. The edge was all rounded over and badly damaged. I was showing my wife the difference in the quality of the steel from modern tools compared to the ones made in the early 1900's.

I have a double-bit Craftsman with that style logo. You don't see many with this type of logo. I have a few other Craftsman tools also with this logo. I think a couple of 1/2" drive ratchets and a breaker bar. It is too bad what Craftsman has turned into nowadays..

If that’s the original handle I think I’d let it be kind of cool if it is

Still a cool find I wish I was older when my grandparents sold off the farm and all the stuff with it. I remember all kinds of tools grandpa had hanging in the shed I’m sure some if not most were bought used by him probably would of been some cool stuff to have today. My problem is I’ve got to much cool stuff already laying around doing nothing more than collecting dust.
