While servicing water treatment systems of the many distilleries on the Bourbon Trail this week in Kentucky, I frequented one of my favorite eateries. Located in Bardstown, I really enjoy the food, history and ambiance of The Talbott Tavern! talbotttavern.com/our-history/Just a few pics I decided to take:

My favorite is Bonges Tavern in Perkinsville (just south of Elwood).
Honestly the best food in Indiana and it's doesn't steal your wallet.
It's in an old tavern / general store / post office.
Neat place.

Without question SLEDER'S in Traverse City Michigan, the oldest continuously operating restaurant/tavern in the state of Michigan. The wife and I visit this comfy place every fall, it's like putting on a warm sweater on a cold day. Their beer is so cold the foam will turn to ice. The food excellent. If it's your first visit you must kiss RANDOLPH the moose. sleders.com/

Seems average priced to me for Stake House you won’t go home hungry. Blue collar dining!

Neat place. Grew up as a river rat just upstream of perkinsville. My elementary school was just outside of the town. Spent many days playing around that bar and along the river.. Good food these days but hard for me to go back and not think of it as it was in the 80s and early 90s. A rough bar or closed. Besides all the fancy lads coming in and talking about my people! Lol...maybe late 90s when they re-opened. We would go after the kitchen closed and drink beer with the staff. They would drop the price of beer to normal cost. It was a blast but eventually they closed that too. Glad they have succeeded there.

Close to home is a little place in Rochester called Evergreen. It's expensive, but food, drinks and service are always first class.

Heidelberg Haus Bakery and lunch counter in Indy/Lawrence on Pendleton Pike just off I465. It opened just before I was born and I have been enjoying it my entire life, especially the schwarzwälder kirschtorte and bee stings. The lunches are great and reasonably priced. A warm, fresh pretzel with butter and spicy German mustard just tastes like the best part of my childhood.

I really like the KASSLER RIPPCHEN... kind of a smoked/fried pork chop with German potato salad and fixins!
