History refresher: Papa John's Pizza was started by John Schnatter in Jeffersonville in the mid-80's. His family owned a tavern and he made and sold pizzas. One thing led to another and Papa John's was created and turned into a multi-$billion international corporation with it's headquarters in Louisville. Schnatter has never been accused of being the friendliest guy around nor the stingiest. He contributed tens of millions locally and who knows how much globally to social, academic, and athletic causes. Papa John's made a whole bunch of local people VERY wealthy.
Fast forward to around 2017ish. Schnatter was recorded during a sensitivity training exercise saying the forbidden (unless you check the proper "boxes") N word. He says that it was part of the training and was snookered, the woke mob says otherwise. He was immediately shamed, cancelled, etc. The University of Louisville pulled the naming rights from the football stadium and all other buildings, etc. He stepped down from the company board and eventually cashed out most of his interest. A new chairman from Atlanta was appointed and he almost immediately moved a good portion of the company headquarters to Atlanta. Fast forward to yesterday and the company announced that almost all operations would be moved to...you guessed it...Atlanta.
I hope Louisville and the University are happy. The area has lost a bunch of good paying jobs and the University a generous philanthropist.
I don't know Schnatter, never met him, don't know that I have ever been within a mile of him. What I do know is a story that a nurse that helped with my mother told me. There was a young boy with terminal cancer in the hospital and he was a big fan of a local sports reporter. The reporter got news of this and went to visit the boy. The family was not of wealth and was obviously suffering in all ways from the situation. The reporter was a friend of Schnatter's and called him for a favor of some pizzas for the family. Schnatter delivered the pizzas himself and spent a good amount of time with the boy. He also (allegedly) contacted hospital administration and paid all of the boy's medical bills.
In my book, that's a man that should be revered, not cancelled.

Just chalk up another loss to this society’s stupidity and selfishness.

I've known John for over 40 years and while he & I were never best friends, I knew him well enough to know that he was a good guy and regardless of what happened in that training meeting, John learned the hard way (when everyone turned their back on him) how two faced people can be.

I think what happened to Mr.Schnatter would be a good Exhibit A in the sterilization case against those infected with the Woke Mind Virus that has run rampant through the imbecile community in recent years. Sad to think that some of the jobs and ancillary income that Louisville has lost thanks to woke-atism will affect those that can actually think as well.
Hope you are happy indeed:
"While I and many others have condemned John Schnatter’s use of the N word, I am mindful that his comments have also caused immense pain to the 1,600 hard-working folks at Papa John’s corporate headquarters and restaurants here in Louisville." --Then Mayor and Woke-a-tism adherent Greg Fischer

If the University pulled his name from there, I sure hope they gave back all the $$ that he gave the University. I know better though. It's a shame.

Who among us hasn't said or done something or used a word we regret using. If you can say you never have, you either aren't being honest with yourself or you are a saint. And I don't know any saints...

If a word is considered to be racist if I say it, then a word is also considered to be racist if another ethnic group says it. If they don't get in trouble for saying it then I shouldn't either. There is no double standard.

... There is no double standard. Lol! In an ideal world maybe. Did you have siblings? It is kind of like my little brother... we fought like cats and dogs. But if anyone else wanted to fight my little brother they had to fight me too. It doesn't have to make sense...or be fair. Just the way it was. It is more emotional than logical and that will never change.
