I looked and didn't see a thread on this yet, so I figured lets throw it out! Why'd you pick your username, and what's the meaning behind it?
To start, mine's my love of shotgun shooting and deer of course!

My best friendโs dad always called me Buckbuster since I could remember until he passed away. My birthday is on the 13th so I added it to the end ๐

I just changed mine to Mackabees. From the Old Testament maccabees book 1 and 2 I'm also changing my avatar of the Star of Bethlehem to a Star of Bethlehem with a Queen Bee inscribed. That will be updated soon. I have an artist working on it.
My motto: Sharing the Spirit of the Bees
This past weekend at the Hive Life Conference it all came full circle from 7/11/03.

I should change it back to ahawkeye which mas my original and a play on my name. But a guy at work figured out my handle and was messing with me. So I changed it to Hunter X Maximum and shortened it all to hunterxmax. He has since retired and I doubt he plays too much on a computer anymore, so changing my name back probably wouldn't be a big deal. I am ahawkeye on Bowsite though.

My name was somewhat of an evolution. My real name is Matthew. Most people call me Matt. When I was very young my friends started calling me Machew which then evolved into calling me Chewy, or Chewbacca. Many of my friends from my youth still call me Chewy or Chewbacca.

A long time ago, on an elk hunt at Hot Tea Camp in Colorado, I was lucky enough to locate a bull and nervous enough to launch 3 arrows at him before I finally hit him in the lungs! At about 30 yards, the first arrow sailed harmlessly over his back, the second arrow kicked up dirt under his belly, and the third arrow went where it should, right behind the shoulder! Finally! He ran about 50 yards and piled up. I skinned and quartered him, walked back to camp to get the guide and horses, got in late that afternoon with my fellow hunters standing on the porch of the cabin, and my guide Wayne Flowers, who was a real cowboy not like those posers on Yellowstone, greets everybody, and says Old3Arrows here went and killed himself an elk! Great times!

I used to shoot a lot of small "scrub" bucks when I was younger. A family member gave me a hard time for busting scrubs. I joined this site right after killing my first decent buck, a 3.5 year old 8 point. Skip ahead more than a decade and I'm consistently killing more and bigger bucks than him.
I've thought about changing my username to Osage Outlaw. That's what I go by on all the other sites I'm a member of. I think I'll keep it the way it is. It reminds me of how far I've come as a hunter.

I think mine might be self-explanatory but just in case. When I started on these forums I was raising and racing homing pigeons.

Great times! I can just see Wayne saying that! Him and Nellie were good people. Question though - was that the last arrow in your quiver?

Good thread.
Many moons ago, when the forum was young, I couldn't decide so I came up with four or five choices, and let the forum members vote on it. I then designed a logo--the latest version of which that I uploaded a few days ago-- and here we are.

Years back when I used a compound I practiced a lot. The arrows were all aluminum and over the course of spring summer and fall pratice I would bend break or destroy a dozen each year. I always had one bent arrow in my quiver. I liked the sound of it and it related to my passion of archery hunting so I used that for my name

I was once known as one of the best home brewers around. I lost interest several years ago and seldom brew anymore, maybe two-three times a year.

I just always liked the Bible verse since I began bow hunting...
"Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison"
Good thread!
