My company truck is a 2020 Duramax with 130k miles. Since around 105k miles it has been one "emissions" problem after another. About two days ago the warning came on saying that I had 175 miles until 65mph limit. I hit that today and now it's 75 miles until 55mph limit. Our mechanic was on it right away and diagnosed the problem. TWO WEEKS to get the parts. By then the truck will probably be inoperable. Apparently there is a problem with the sensors related to the @#$% DEF system and the whole freaking DEF tank and related parts have to be replaced.
I have never been a "government overreach" preacher, but I'll be darned if this isn't it. Luckily I can grab the back-up to use for work. But, what if I were a regular consumer and this was my only mode of transportation? I would have to rent a car because GM can't get it's poop straight and have parts available.
I sincerely hope that each and every individual involved in mandating this scam (DEF) experiences numerous negative moments in their collective lives.

Dodge was fighting this issue for some time also… We had Dodges for awhile and went back to Ford because of this issue! You can temporarily delete the codes with the right code reader but it will come back! Good luck BTW… some people have deleted the DEF from vehicles and never looked back ! Just saying…..

I run between 40 and 60 thousand miles a year and have been driving a Ram the last 6-8 years. I get a new truck before it hits 100K. Never had an issue. I run DEF from the bulk tanks at the truck stops, I have used maybe 2 jugs of DEF from a store in that time.

I read where some have had problems on trucks with less the 5k miles… it’s not the DEF being used it’s the DEF injectors that are bad on the dodges.

I have had 3-4 different trucks in that time frame, all diesels.

We had 20 plus and not everyone was bad also… When you’re out of state and have to count on a dealership to fix its never good!
The Cummins motors are second to none but the DEF issues doesn’t come from the motors that why some delete the DEF and move on!
We had Zero problems with DEF after moving back to Fords!

We have looked into deleting the DEF and, on newer models, it's $8+k! We have numerous older Chevy's and Fords and they were all deleted for around $1500. On the 2020, the main computer has to be removed and sent off for a few weeks. I suspect that the EPA is mandating that the automakers build-in preventative measures.
We have also tried erasing the codes. That lasts a few miles.
Maybe we could get the right people to declare that DEF is racist and is disproportionately affecting minorities?

I love DEF! I programed and ran most of the meter housings and other parts that go into the Clear Blue Stand Alones at truck stops. I worked a LOT of overtime keeping up with production at Murray Equipment in Ft. Wayne.

Update:
The company mechanic replaced all required (purchased from local GM dealer) parts. All codes cleared, but the limited speed was still active. We had to take the truck to the GM dealer to have that cleared with a GM computer for over $400. Crap like this really burns me.
My wife has an Audi and the service interval message can only be cleared by a dealer. Again, burns me up!
Didn't John Deere just lose a lawsuit due to not selling parts to end-users?

What a pain! Glad they put all these widgets in new cars to make life easier.
Makes me feel better about driving my ancient Silverado. I just had an alternator replaced but at least that was simple fix.
I think my favorite thing is the regular key that I can have copied at the hardware store. We have a Honda van that has flimsy key/fob combo contraptions. To replace it we have to go to the dealer. Its around $300 all-told. If the last key breaks we have to tow the van to the dealer and have the whole system reprogrammed for the affordable sum of $1000.

I remember when the Dodge Rams first started having DEF problems and they told folks it was the quality of the DEF and to buy it from Dealerships only. lol

I remember when the Dodge Rams first started having DEF problems and they told folks it was the quality of the DEF and to buy it from Dealerships only. lol On the big truck side, there is a "def quality" sensor in the tank. We read the percentage via the computer (optimal is 32.5% urea content) and verify it with a refractometer. We do have the code come up regularly. It can require a flush of the tank and refill. None of them have a drain!
