Not to say that it will or should happen, but how would it work if a person that is covered with lifetime
Secret Service protection is sent to jail or prison? Has this ever happened before?
The only scenario I can imagine is that they would have to be housed in a completely separate facility with both Secret Service and correctional people.
Not being political, I just wonder how that would work. The protectors are always armed, but weapons are strictly forbidden in lockup. The offender could not be allowed to mix with other prisoners.
Something to ponder on a cold winter day.

I think you probably laid out the only scenario that would work, unless it was house arrest.

More than likely housed in protective custody and solitary. I'd imagine something close to ADX Florence in Colorado. Guessing the "protection" would pass from secret service to corrections officers

looks like we will all find out the answers in the not too distant future. Unless... his most elegant pen-pal in North Korea welcomes him to share the joys of dictatorship!

“Teflon Don” (because criminal charges against him have never stuck)

Maybe his wife will have a conversation with someone in the FBI on a plane where nobody else can hear what is said.

Even in the event he get convicted of something, he will never go to jail.
The end game isn't him in prison. It is to simply get something to stick that would prevent him from holding office again.
