I skinned my step sons doe skull today and found nasal bot fly larvae in it. That has to be terribly uncomfortable for a deer. Maybe that's why you hear deer sneezing. I've probably skinned over 50 deer skulls and this is only the second time I've seen them.

Can you imagine those things eating away inside your nose and not being able to do anything about it.

Several years ago we had a doe that we named sneezy. You could hear her coming from that long before you could hear her footsteps. I bet she had them.

I have a 2 year old buck on my place now that I’ve called sneezy for this same reason. I see him almost every sit. I was just thinking some kind of allergies.

It doesn't bother me to field dress deer or process my own deer but if I cut into a deer head & found those I think it would make me sick. It looks gross.

The deer is already processed and in the freezer. These don't affect the meat at all. I would have never known they were there if I hadn't of skinned the head.

You wouldn't have liked this surprise I found in my dad's buck a few years back. Arrow, car, antler wound or something else? We didn't see any wounds. We had no idea it was there until I cut into it. I could see the leg was larger than normal but I thought it was just a healthy deer. I think it was a huge cyst.

I killed my biggest buck in 2019 and when I was skinnning his head out for a european mouint he had nasal bots fallling out. I thought what the heck are those things. He had at least 20 of them if I recall right. I would say he was miserable for sure having them in his nasal cavity. I would also say that is why we hear some deer sneezing all the time.

Wwt operators are a special breed. Done my share of popping manholes to find plugged sewer lines. That is not as gross as your deer pic....
