Sad..
Old bones heal slow…and we don’t bounce as good as we used to. Our balance is not as good as when we were younger.
I still hunt out of treestands but I’m full body harnessed up and attached to my safety line from the ground up, while in the stand and all the way back down to the ground.

I get it, I do. But man there are plenty of responsible hunters that don't need it beat into their heads that they are going to fall at some point.

Anyone can fall never doubt that.... some have to fall before they will use protective gear.

Took a 17' fall hanging a loc on solo, to convince me. I was one of lucky ones, breaking 4 ribs and fracturing hip. Lifelines and harness for me, will not hunt without.

Complacency got me. If I'm in a tree stand, I'm connected before my feet leave the ground and stay connected until I'm back down.
Thoughts and prayers for recovery for this guy.

I got lucky in 2007. Took me out in a helicopter but my fractured back healed. I did a flip & luckily landed on my back instead of breaking my neck.

I have ZERO reason to ever NOT have a harness and lifeline in use EVERY hunt. The calmness even gained while climbing by knowing I'm good is incredible, and getting home in the same condition I left it is my first and foremost responsibility when hunting.

I was hunting in the same tree as my 18 yr old son on Saturday (two hang-ons with a lifeline up the middle with the ladder). I got down first and the next thing I know he sliding down the rope. He decided it was a good idea to use it as rappelling rope. I jumped his sh!t for that stunt and told him it was a safety rope with a prussic not and it is not designed as a rappelling system. smh 🤦♂️
