It does matter. You still can’t go over the season limit. If you check two does in as archery and then kill a buck with archery that is illegal because your two archery licenses are already gone in that bundle. Yeah you can kill 3 with archery gear but can only checkin two under archery license You can use the bundle to cover the one antlered deer you would harvest using your archery/crossbow license OR your firearms license OR your muzzleloader license. AND The bundle can be used to cover up to two antlerless deer you would harvest using your archery/crossbow license OR your muzzleloader license OR your bonus antlerless license. OR You can use the bundle to cover the three antlerless deer you would harvest using your archery/crossbow license, muzzleloader license, and/or bonus antlerless license.

I understand the regs but I can understand how that bundle is sort of confusing. Thank goodness I have my lifetime license.

I understand the regs but I can understand how that bundle is sort of confusing. Thank goodness I have my lifetime license. Somewhat more involved for me. I hunt two different properties in two different counties. Both are private land, but one I own, the other I don't. So, I get to fill bonus county antlerless tags for two counties, but I have to pay attention when checking in. Season bag limits still count, but I have two county quotas that I can fill. On my land I am exempt from needing a license. On the other property I need a license. This year I also drawn for the late deer hunt in Prophets Town state Park. This gives me 3 more deer, 3 antlerless or two antlerless and one antlered deer, that do NOT count against my county quotas. So, if I avail myself of all season opportunities, and somehow manage to tag out in each, along with the state park hunt, I can legally harvest 11 deer this season. Doubt if I'll get lucky enough to get 5 or 6, but I'll be there trying to fill my freezer, and my brothers freezer, and my niece's freezer, and...

Got a doe out there but haven't seen the first doe in my reduction zone spot. All bucks. Go figure. Really want to get reduction doe. I used to hunt the small property just west of the water park. It's now part of the park. The amount of deer out there was great until they started hunting the park. I have never applied for the park hunts. Don't really like being around that many people.

I know what you mean about too many people. I try to stick to the periphery for safety sake. This hunt gives me the opportunity to take three deer without the costs for licences, and it adds the opportunity to take a second antlered deer in a season.

The bundle license just basically combines all the licenses available to allow you to take three deer within the license limits. Greg posted on about the 9th post of this thread what those were and it says each license allows you to take one deer each and there are only two archery licenses. I’d suggest posting your question to Morrison in the ask a CO part of the forum.

Page 29 of the printed book there is a chart that shows deer seasons and bag limits. In the E-regs click on the link for deer seasons, licenses, and equipment. Under that chart is a chart of season limits. No clue why it's not connected to the "deer regulations" link that you shared.

All of this confusion could be avoided if Indiana would just sell a deer tag and set simple bag limits per county. The state wants to get cute and play a game and sell a dozen different types of licenses for deer hunting.

Who knows. No, you can shoot a buck during any of the regular seasons, as long as you abide by the rules and regulations of each season. The only "season" you can not shoot a buck is the bonus county antlerless season, but that's not really a season in and of itself. It's not as convoluted as some make it out to be. Generally speaking, you are allowed 1 buck per year. You may harvest that buck during archery, firearms, or muzzleloader season, but you must adhere to that seasons regulations.

It’s amazing that seasoned hunters are unable to decipher the mess of regulations set by the DNR. Believe it’s time to simplify the licensing of hunters so everyone can understand them.

It could be a lot simpler.
One deer licence = one deer.
They already track the weapon type when you check in.

I too am having problems understanding why there is so much trouble understanding the Bundle License. May be some answers that are not correct, I do not know. You get 3 tags to use as you want within the season bag limits.
What would happen if the DNR had a "sportsman License". Fishing, hunting, deer, turkey, rabbit, waterfowl, fall turkey? Some states have that kind of license. Kind of like buying a lifetime license each year.

That was a "citizen suggestion" back before they came up with the bundle. They threw us a "bone" with the bundles..
