I spent last week with the family at Disney in Orlando. First off, that is no relaxing vacation, it's exhausting and ridiculously expensive. And, to make it even worse, the food is awful.
Anyway, we took a LYFT back to the resort from Universal Studios. Had what seemed like a decent young man for a driver. He picked us up, transported us to the destination safely, we paid the service and tipped him. No problem, right? Wrong!
My wife received an email the next day that we were being charged $150 for "damages" with absolutely no explanation. One cannot, at least as far as we have found, call LYFT and speak to a human. All communication is via a message conversation. Whoever my wife was messaging with, maybe not even a human, would not budge and refused to refund the charge. The driver said that we kicked and dented his car. Now I would think that such an incident would be preceded and/or followed by a confrontation. Nope, other than the fact that it simply did not happen, he didn't file the complaint until over two hours after we were dropped off.
I disputed the charge with our credit card company and they are refunding the charge and contacting LYFT. My wife posted an account of the incident on Facebook and immediately received three responses of similar experiences. One friend said that her elderly parents were charged for vandalizing the upholstery in a vehicle with a razor knife.
By the way, yes I did check with the security office at the resort. No surveillance camera in the area we were dropped off.

If I spent all day at Disney, eating crappy food, I'd be kicking dents in doors too.
You would think they'd have to file a police report before they can even charge your card. Or at least make you aware of their grievance. It makes you wonder how many times they get away with it.
Good luck with the resolution.

Couldn't have been much of a dent for $150...

Man that sucks. We used Uber both in and out of the park and had no issues. Glad you will at least get your money back, but that’s ridiculous they can do that with zero precursors.

I rent a vehicle every so often for work. I take exterior and interior photos before I leave their lot, just to be on the safe side. I suppose if you took photos of the ride share vehicle before you got in and as you exited, they would be a lot less likley to try something like this.

We used a VRBO a couple of years ago, they nailed us with extra cleaning costs, I fought it but lost. Will not use that particular owner ever again. Same type of thing though if you knew you were going to get hit with charges you'd film the whole thing. They know you are on vacation and don't have the resources you would have at home. Been there it stings but you live and learn this last trip i took pictures before i left the condo. Good luck with this one hope you win. By the way, yes I did check with the security office at the resort. No surveillance camera in the area we were dropped off.

To even make it worse Disney has a contract with Lyft and then they do this to their customers. Just not right. We looked at booking one of the Minnie Vans through Lyft. Glad we didn’t do that now.

Yeah… when you rent you sign a damage agreement…. Does LYFT have a damage agreement?

I would send them a email or letter they may not even realize it’s going on especially if you can name the driver or car numbers if they have anything like that maybe just one or two drivers doing it If you can and still have the other peoples name have them contact them also or send a email worst case you waste a hour best case someone gets fired or prosecuted over the deal Hard to believe what this world has come to anymore

Take a Taxi and pay Cash 💰…. Problem solved! I used Lyft and Uber in Nashville Tennessee and Uber while here in Orlando. I’ve never had an issue, but like all companies there are plenty of issues out there. I looked at taxis while in Nashville and they were a longer wait and quite a bit more money each way.

Of course a Taxi is longer wait and higher price…. They aren’t scamming people for the most part. Hard to scam someone that’s paying cash… that’s my point.
