My recent experience with Rossi.
Several years ago I picked up a new 44 mag Rossi lever rifle. It proved to be pretty much a "project gun" from the git go. I've read on different forums of the tendency of their forearm screws breaking- and, sure enough, I had it happen recently while shooting. The forearm screw, as well as the barrel/magazine band screw, both broke.
Contacted Customer Service (ha ha), the forearm screw I can get IF I buy the band with it; the barrel/mag band screw is something that they want me to send rifle in for replacement at a minimum gunsmith rate of $50.
Thought that I would pass this along just in case you are considering a purchase. To be fair- many people have owned these rifle without any such hassles, but, as for me, I'm through with 'em.
Got me a new Henry on the way. My experience with them has been great.

Got my new Henry side-gate 44 mag carbine yesterday and shot it a little this morning. With open sights and these 74 year old eyeballs I shot a mixture of jacketed and cast into roughly 3" at 50 yards. I could see the rear sight ok but the front bead was somewhat of a fuzz ball- and the target was more than a little blurry!
I'm sure that an optic will cut the group in half. I think I'm gonna like it a lot.
