We have lived in Lafayette for 18 years and have never been to the covered bridge festival. Wondering if it's worth a day trip. Hiking is one of the things my wife and I like to do together and we might be able to work in with a hike at turkey run. For those that have been is it worth it? Should we try to go on a weekday and avoid the weekends?

If I'm roped into going the wife likes Bridgeton better than Mansfield. My personal opinion is it has went down hill on hand made crafts. It has become a big flea market "Made in China" out of a box. Depends on what you are after or like. This is just my opinion. There is a unlimited selection of over priced food. But it is good eating.

I have lived 15 miles south of Mansfield for 50 years. I have NEVER been to the festival. I might try it next year, LOL.

I lived in Montezuma 2009-2012. I went to a few booths and found a new Kershaw lockblade for $5. Not anything I would drive more than 5 miles for unless you like sorting through junk and fair food.

Although I hadn't been in awhile, I use to enjoy it. I did not really go there expecting to find great treasures. The only thing I ever went there searching for was a gun rack for my office and that was 20 years ago.
I enjoyed eating my way through the festival and just browsing. I really liked looking at the covered bridges too.
Parking can be a nightmare and it can get crowded.

That's a great area, but during the Covered bridge festival would be a terrible time to go due to crowds. Cut thru there a couple years back going south hunting and Hwy 59 from 36 all the way down to Brazil was pretty much bumper to bumper and yard sales at nearly every property, people walking on the roads, etc. I'm sure Turkey Run will be a zoo during that Festival as well.

I think you guys have talked me out of it. My wife does love rummage sales. Maybe I should send her by herself.
