I have done OK at auctions. Fun to go to and I like the online ones too. No searching for parking online. I think I have found my limit. Not sure but some of these calls appear used. I know the Diaphragm Calls have gotten crazy expensive in the last couple of years. But I still prefer new in sealed package. indiana.hibid.com/lot/131570762/game-calls-diaphragms-x17?ref=catalog

Yeah I don't think I could do that either unless they were in the package. I know as soon as I open a package on a diaphragm call I'm trying it out.

I set a limit before I start bidding. I very rarely go over it. Once I ran up the price on a large teepee that was in rough shape. But that was only because the couple I was bidding against were very drunk and obnoxious. They made it clear they were getting it. I ran the bid up an extra $200 over my limit and then let them have it. I figured that was worth everyone having to deal with their behavior.

I was at an auction several years ago and watched a guy pay more for a used shotgun than he could have bought the same thing for new just down the road at a shop. I think some people easily get carried away and let their mouths get ahead of their brains.
My dad has always said to never go to an outdoor auction in nice weather, but always go in bad weather. I can think of two that I went to myself, one ridiculously hot and the other in cold rain, that items were practically getting stolen.

Saving $10 on a used diaphragm call isn't worth the herpes that comes with it.

Saving $10 on a used diaphragm call isn't worth the herpes that comes with it. I can’t imagine buying something that had been in someone else’s mouth thst I would put in mine. No way Jose!

My ex wife used to love to go to outdoor auctions. She would sometimes spend way more for an item than what it was worth because she would get into a bidding war just to keep someone else from getting what she wanted. About twenty years ago at an auction neer Milltown Indiana she bid and won a Springfield 1898 30/40 Krag for $18.00.My son has that rifle and has been offered over $1600.00 for it.

I love going to auctions, I really like buying old advertising, sign’s, guns, gas pumps, antiques extra. Problem is now everything is online you don’t have to be at the actual auction to buy and there’s a lot more advertising of the auction😩
