I make a post like this each year, so here it goes for 2022!
This will be my first year hunting the Greene County lease that I picked up in January.
There are tremendously more and bigger deer than what I am used to seeing, so I feel like my chance at handgun deer #4+ are very favorable this season.
I have a few of the common of legal handgun calibers for deer hunting (357 mag, 10mm, 41 mag, 44 mag, 45 colt, 454 casull, 460 S&W) but I am currently working up loads for two additional calibers on opposite ends of the power spectrum from each other.
The .44 special +P on the lower end and the 500 JRH on the upper end.
I will let you know how the accuracy/ load testing goes and I encourage you all to hammer a deer with a handgun if you haven't before, it is a great challenge and a rewarding experience.
Who else is going to carry a deer handgun with them in the woods this fall?

Same as every year, I might take my .44 mag out for a day or two depending on how the season has went for me.

I went shooting a few days ago and finally got to test some new handloads for the .357 mag and the .44 spl. Fun times for sure. Each gun required just a bit of adjustment to the rear sights and now I will just continue to practice with them.

I’ll be shooting an 8” 1961 super Blackhawk.44 magnum with a leupold scope. This will be my first deer season with a pistol.

I’ve been to the range a few times this summer with it to get the scope dialed in and it’s an absolute banger. I was shooting hornady Hunter ammo, but buddy switched up to 300gr cast rounds that I assume are going to make a cartoon hole and flat back anything in its path ha

I'll have my S&W 500 again this year and I may get my T/C 14" in 7-30 waters back out.

I haven't decided yet but I'll be toting my Ruger Vaquero (45LC) or my Kimber Rapide (10mm). I've got my own handloads for each. Might just be a gameday decision!

I will be bringing my POF Rogue with a 12.5in barrel in 308. It is topped with a Vortex 1-8 Strike Eagle shooting Federal Premiums with 168gr Berger Hybrids. The package weighs in under 7lbs. It will be on "doe patrol" in Indiana and as a backup out here in CO.

Did a good amount of shooting this morning with this 6 1/2" 10mm Super Redhawk. I was very pleased with the accuracy and the fact that this gun has almost no recoil even with full house loads. It's a phenomenal setup that is incredibly easy to shoot well.

Just rolled these for my 500 JRH. 440gr at 910 fps, so they should be a bit milder that Buffalo Bore's mildest loading and still stupid accurate.

I did end up taking one of my does with the POF..... shot without ear pro like a dumb a$$ and couldn't hear for a full day. SMH. I am NOT impressed with the 168 Berger hybrid hunter. Both lungs, out the back side and zero expansion or blood trail. Was VERY lucky to find her about 30 yds into some CRP. I will not be using them to hunt again.
