I had high hopes of smoking some northern pike today but, the weather is just too nasty. So, I'm baking it instead. I haven't ever baked fish before. We usually grill it or sometimes fry it up. Fingers crossed that it goes well.

Did you fillet out the bones?

Yes, no bones at all. Turned out pretty good. I really like this "Magic" blackened seasoning blend.

A group of us are going to Canada in couple of weeks to fish for pike. We eat pike (shore lunch) 4 days out of the 5 we are there. Fry it up in our favorite beer batter. Doesn’t get much better than fresh pike and a cold brewski.

The last time it was with an Indian Industries sponsored hunt that Myles Keller was at. No bears but we ate pike every day.

Northern pike kind of gets a bad rap. It actually has more flavor than walleye.

I got to meet Myles at his job interview in a local tavern. My buddy wanted me along to get my opinion on Myles as a figurehead for XI. Great conversation over fish sammiches , fries and a couple cold brewskis. Afterwards my buddy asked,”What do you think of him.”? I told him he is a Diamond in the rough. Hire him, get him some presentation skills training for seminars and sit back and enjoy. Myles shot and hunted with Black Widow recurves prior to Indian hiring him. A couple of well known bow hunting brothers tried to put him down for using a compound and getting paid for it. Jealousy is ugly.
