This past spring our group lost our good friend and Charter Captain Doug from the POLECAT so I needed to find a new charter on Lake Michigan to replace him. We decided we would look for a charter out of St. Joe, Michigan since it's 3 hours closer or 50 mins from my door as well as Schall53's door. It took plenty of phone calls and several interviews till we decided on a charter called "IN THE BOX" with Captain Jarrod Hasse. www.intheboxfishingcharters.com/yourcaptainWe fished with Jarrod Yesterday and today on Lake Michigan with sunny skies and 1'-2' waves. Yesterday was slow with us boating 8 nice fish which included a 22 pound "KING" and unfortunately we lost another huge "KING" at the net with a rookie mistake. Today we boated 18 fish with a mix of Lake Trout, King salmon, Coho and Steelhead, we also lost another big fish that broke off and several others that just came unbuttoned. The crew consisted of me, scahll53 my grandson David and our good fishing friend Bruce. We had a great 2 days of fishing and we are happy to have found a perfect replacement for our loss of the POLECAT. I highly recommend this boat and this young captain. Photos attached:

Good deal. I follow a Lake MI forum, and it sounds like one of the best starts to a season I have ever heard. Fish are just off shore, and guys are reeling them in hand over fist. Unfortunately the hot action isnt transferring over to the piers like we would hope.
With gas prices and everything costing more, I dont see us taking our boat out too much this year. 😡

With gas prices and everything costing more, I dont see us taking our boat too out much this year. 😡 Every inch of the two piers were occupied by fisherman on Monday, we saw 1 person reeling in a fish. Yesterday we saw about a handful of fisherman. We caught our fish in 142 feet of water or deeper, shallower was not producing.

Reading the fish have been in about 20-50 fow, at least up until recently. Most action was Gary Lighthouse east to MC. As we know, conditions and fishing can change in an instant, so maybe most moved out already. Skamania should be cranking up. www.thesouthend.org/index.php/south-end-forum

And they wonder why they never see the rod go off. We actually fell asleep waiting on featherduster to reel in a fish, you had to set stakes to see if he was moving! He kept telling us how big it was and then it turned out to be this.....
