That's interesting. Something I noticed this year (in my area at least) is that there were way more hens and way fewer male birds than usual. Typically in years past, I could count on at least 2 or 3 toms being in a close vicinity and would usually only see 1 or 2 hens for each tom. This year, I was seeing only one tom in most of the places I hunted and he would usually have 3 or 4 sometimes even 5 hens with him. I know that is annecdotal on my part as it is just what I saw in the immediate places I hunted, however, it was vastly different than what I have observed in the past. I know it made them real hard to hunt when a tom has 4 hens with him right off the roost each morning. Makes me wonder if something is lessening the male bird population specifically.
