10 days left I’d say still be fairly close to average.

I know the numbers are down at least 1 "Mine". LOL.. I have had a tough season and have not seen a legal bird yet. I guess I am due to lay an egg one of these years as I have a 20 year streak going. I have enjoyed being in the turkey woods though and off work. I have a few days left to hunt though so anything is possible.

Way more than I expected from the way I heard folks talking about their season.

Way more than I expected from the way I heard folks talking about their season. This season was my toughest yet. Put in the time scouting, roosting birds, etc., and still didn't kill one. (Please ignore the fact that I whiffed on a big boy ) Seriously though, it was a tough year for me.

My first turkey season and I spent more hours than I would care to count out in the woods and to this day I have still have never heard a bird gobble. Might be my LAST year turkey hunting….

I wouldn't quit, but I would find a new spot! Lol It took me over a decade to get my first turkey. The right hunting property makes all the difference.

Yea, hang in there. It can only go up from here. The first time you hear that gobble you’ll be loving turkey hunting again.

Yea, hang in there. It can only go up from here. The first time you hear that gobble you’ll be loving turkey hunting again. I think my first turkey hunt was probably in 1971. I hunted close to Morgan Ridge . That was where the DNR first started stocking turkeys and the area they stocked was off limits to hunting of any kind. I never saw nor heard any turkeys. I pretty well quit for 5 or 6 years. I then went to Missouri where I killed my first turkey. Turkeys have done well in Warrick county. I had as many as 20 on camera at one time this year. I live about 2 1/2 miles outside of downtown Newburgh snd I’ve had turkeys in my backyard. Hang in there it will happen for you and when it does you’ll be hooked.

All five of my NW Indiana public properties were loaded with birds this year. Tagged out on third morning but watched birds from across field the first two. Had no less than nine shooters walk past my two other blind spots those first two days. My pop up blind was not brushed in.
On the other hand, my regular Southern Wisconsin public was barren of birds. I abandoned that hunt. And southern Illinois was well below average. Scouting SW Michigan public this week but likely for next year.

Most mine were taken at LaSalle F&W. Every time I add a new one it’s just as good. Scored another one on day four this year, and took just 2 hours in my first Michigan hunt this year, thanks to scouting in 2022. He was a healthy 22 pounder came in to my cheap Rural King jake decoy 😂. But no photos because I’m not paying $5/month to Photobucket.
