10 bore whacked him good. Fantastic, I love my 10 ga, it will definitely reach out and touch them.

Had a hen feed through my setup. I was watching her off to my left and caught something out of the corner of my eye.. a coyote came flying in and smoked my decoy. I couldnβt get my gun up fast enough to get a shot. The hen flew up above me and was roosted for about 15 minutes and she just flew down....that was wild.

2 jakes came in. I let them mill around hoping they would have a tom following. After ten minutes no replies to their gobbling. They started to leave. So at 60 yards I gave one the good news. If I had more mornings to hunt I would have let those jakes go but I gotta take what's given.

I have the Indian Creek choke as well, and could not be any happier with its performance.

Super nice weather in the NW this weekend. Wish I was still out hunting, but my youth hunter wasnt interested in getting up so early (unless it was for fishing). I asked my buddy if he wanted me to come down to call for him, but he said nah. Oh well... good luck gents and congrats to the successful hunters so far.

It is a beautiful day but the birds arenβt cooperating. I havenβt heard a bird or seen one since fly down. Still a great day in the woods.

I've heard that Tom's will beat up the dead Tom. Never seen it until today. I had to get out of my blind to scare the Jake away. He was on top the dead one beating the crap out of him. Feathers were flying.

The wife wanted to go to Garth Brooks last night so we went up north and stayed. My buddy watching our dogs stayed the night so I said he could hunt. Just moved my blind to a new spot and he sat in it for only an hour, had 7 jakes come by and he shot one.

Was going to go into a long story but one longbeard at about 70 yards and two separate flocks of jakes. One with 3 and the other with 8. Jakes all within 15 yards. Sitting against a tree in the woods. Called both flocks back numerous times. The big flock had several gobbling real well. Drove to another spot and had 9 jakes in a field together. I went home.
While next year will be a heck of a year, no wonder it's been so hard to get mature birds in. That plus if there is that many jakes, the hen population has to be insane too. Two good winters and cicada hatch last year did them good. Isn't making it any easier this though. That one flock was more jakes then I've seen all my years hunting combined
