I would go ahead and get the 36”. That way when you need the space to feed more people you have it rather than doing two rounds or cooking some stuff in another appliance. Blackstone is of course the most popular. I have the members mark one, which is currently $230 for the 36”. Difference is the drain is in the front of mine, whereas it’s in the back of the Blackstone. If you don’t see the griddle being in the rain a soft cover would be just fine to keep dust and bugs off. If it’ll get wet at all I’d get a hard one. I have both a hard and soft on mine. Seasoning is just like any other cast iron. Make sure you get a good coating the first time around. Then clean it well right after each use. I give mine a coat of oil after each use as well while it’s still warm. Think I covered everything. Of course all just my opinion. Enjoy experimenting with it once you have one.

I’ve used both and it doesn’t matter to me. Mine does take up a little of the cooking area, but not enough to worry about.

I tko used a small griddle for a couple years (the kind that use the 1 lb canisters). It is a useful tool for a camping situation other than that it's a pain in the butt. You cook then clean then have to eait for it to cool before you can put it back in the bag and while it's cooling outside I'm watching for flies or the cat or whatever. With the 36 inch 4 burner get one with a metal top so that way you cook then clean then put the cover over it. I'm not sure I would cook with it very much under a covered porch, it gets pretty hot, might damage something. Long story short I'd go 36" I like the one from Menards but to each their own.

If the 4 burner that Woody posted has a metal top with it I would buy it. I saw the 5 burner and the top seemed flimsy to me.

I had 36 inch Blackstone. Gave it to my brother in law. Maintenance and floor space was too much.
I cut a piece of 3/8th steel to fit my gas grill. Left about 1/2 inch gap to drain grease and scraps into the grill.
The lid helps keep heat on the griddle in the winter months and no extra foot print on the porch. Easier to clean maybe due to size.
Welded on angle iron along back and 2 sides. And 2 handles. I like it and much cheaper than the stand alone units

That's pretty neat, I do not have a gas grill but that would be a very good option if I did. I have wished so many times that I knew how to weld!

My wife got an old stick welder from her dad when he passed away. I learned with that then bought a used mig welder last year. I watched YouTube, asked for guidance and just messed around. I am far from a welder but I have repaired mower deck, made a dumbell rack from old T posts and made rod rack for the boat. Plus the griddle. It is fun for me.

I made a block fire pit where I do all my grilling over a wood fire. I'd like to have something under a roof so I can cook in bad weather. I like your set up though. If I had a propane grill I'd go that route.

If you buy a grill then you can have both. Blackstone are all propane

If you buy a grill then you can have both. Blackstone are all propane I've got no interest in buying a gas grill. I love the taste of food cooked over coals. I made back straps and burgers today on my block grill. The griddle will probably be used for breakfast most of the time.

I've had a Blackstone 36" for a year or so now and could not be happier. I also have a smaller version but find I use the 36" more often. It's simply easier to use.
Not one bad thing to say about the Blackstone.

I've been wanting one for a while. Was looking at a 36". The inlaws have decided they didn't like their 36" blackstone and decided to give it to me today. The wife said they've only cooked on it once or twice outside the 3 or 4 times I have. It's gonna need cleaned and reseasoned, but that's about it.

I've got the 36 black stone and got to break it out the other day and it was awesome. I was cooking, chicken breast, thighs, peppers and onions, brats, hamburgers hot dogs and for desert was cooking breakfast cinnamon rolls (note here on the rolls, cook those first since the cooking surface conducts heat very well and mine turned out a little burnt).
But I loved every single minute of it. Come to think of it this weekend is supposed to be nice. Think I'll have the family over and cook some food for them. Any suggestions on what you all think I should try next, something off the wall that you normally wouldn't grill?
