I haven't ever fished with a tube jig. I stopped at our local Walmart and found a few different colors. They seem small (2"). I wasn't sure which color to buy or even what size jig head between the 1/8 or the 1/16. The 1/8 seemed too big for the tube.
Any thoughts or advice?

That's about all that I use for crappie. Usually with a 1/16 or 1/32 jig. Red/white, pink/white, or chartreuse with black or red seem to work best for me; although I do have a variety of other colors that I'll try at times.
I often fish them suspended under a float. If water is choppy that will often create enough action to trigger strikes while reeling s-l-o-w-l-y.

Get a whole bunch of different sizes and colors. Can't ever have too much tackle.

Tube jigs work well for crappie. My go to crappie rig is a 1/16 road runner jig head w/ blade and a 1 1/2 inch curly tail, mostly chartreuse/white combination. Honestly the best set up is one that you have confidence in.

Along with the tube jigs I use the curly tail grubs (Kalin's). Like steiny said have several sizes and colors on hand.
As far as to which one to use, I use the match the water stain. It has worked well for me.
Good luck and lets see those fish pics !

Open water crappie, hard to beat a white curly tail grub. Also caught a bunch of big gills and walleye on them.

I can't tell you how many different species of fish I've caught on a 1" or 2" white curly tail grub and a pink jighead. When Bluegills are on the beds, 2# or 4# test line, 1" long curlytail, 1/100th oz jig head, no bobber. Every cast is a BG. Start casting to the closest beds, then slowly work your way further away from you. I like the Berkley scented curly tails better, fish seem to grab them and hold on.
