I brought this up earlier for some ideas this is what I ended up doing I used 4 x 4 for the legs wrapped with 2 x 12 then made the floor out of 2 x 6 I also put a 2 x 8 across both legs hopefully that will keep it from sinking in time

I put landscaping fabric down to hold the dirt in and allow for drainage

I made three of them they are 4 x 10 I finished them up today and was hoping to put them in place and fill I tore the others out already but it’s snowing today so maybe in a few days.
Once I get them full I’m going to wrap the top with a 2 x 4 and cut the fabric off. I’ll post some more photos once they are full of dirt. Fairly easy project as far as skill by the time I’m done each one will cost 166.00 I know I’ll never save enough growing my own veggies but my back will thank me.

Forgot this Depending on growth drainage and drying out I thought about wrapping the top with something like 3/4 pvc and drilling a bunch of small holes or get some spray nozzles and install them and then hook all three together with garden hose that way I can just turn it on and water all three of them. I’ll see how this works out and decide this summer

I'm putting in some raised beds this year as well.
The talk of food shortages has got me hedging my bets.

What did you use to hold the bottom boards on to the side boards? Are you worried about the weight of the dirt/water will make the boards pull the fasteners?
I was given some treated lumber so the cement and cinder block raised beds idea went out the window. They will be wood. There's a farmer down the street that looks like he is getting set up to sell black top soil (muck). He's got a backhoe, a dump truck and a screener with a conveyor. I'll stop there next week and see what that is all about.

I had some raised beds but basically they were on the ground I made these so I don’t have to bend over so much after 42 years of working in the trades / construction work my back appreciates not being bent over for hours. I don’t know if food shortages will be a issue but cost could be a issue for sure, I find raising a garden a relaxing hobby honestly it’s probably cheeper to buy it but it definitely tastes better and for me I enjoy it.

I ripped a 2x 4 in half then screwed it to the upright than screwed the floor to the 2x2 and the side I looked and thought about that today I think I’m going to run a 3/8 all threaded rod from side to side in a few places to squeeze it together I also used deck screws for all the joints. If the floor seems to saggy I’ll take a 2 x 6 from leg to leg underneath and run a another from end to end to use as a brace for the center. I’m only 45 inch’s side to side so I don’t think I’ll have a issue but I’m not 100 % either.

Raised beds are great! Shallow as those are, they will dry out quick, so keep an eye on the water. Mine are stacked 6x6's from the ground up to 30" height, full depth dirt and they still tend to dry rather quickly.

I may have to water every day time will tell if I do I’ve got a idea on a watering system so I can just turn it on and do other stuff

Have you all planted already? Two years ago I did a little early and lost like 30 tomato plants when a late frost hit.

No garden or raised beds for me. Been a slow and steady decline. Maybe when kids are out of the house but I doubt it.
It was hard to give up...but I don't miss it now.
