It’s been a few years since I bought turkey rounds. I have an 870 supermag and previously purchased Remington longbeard XR 3.5 in shells. I went to get another box this year and can’t find them anywhere. Any recommendations for an alternative?

Longbeard 3".
Honestly though, depending on how you hunt, any of the rounds out there will do what you need within 30 yards. The chase for a slug hole at that distance seems a bit ridiculous to me. I somewhat get guys that hunt fields and in a blind. Turkeys will hang up at times. Woods hunters on the other hand. I've never had one at 50 that I couldn't get to 20. At that distance even heavy bird loads in 5's or 6's will get the job done. If you insist on the 3.5 xr's a internet search will get you what you want but you're gonna pay for them

Our local Dunham's is hit and miss. I check weekly on Wednesday and they usually have at least one variety of turkey load.

Was at Sportsman Warehouse in Greenwood this AM, they had a pretty good assortment of turkey loads. First time there....thought it was pretty nice.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and they had nothing. First time there and last. Stores okay but I can't get over a store that makes a percentage of yearly income from gun sales not allowing concealed carry.

I’ve not been there yet, but attempted one Saturday and that whole area was so packed I just left. Are you sure the sign isn’t just for guns going in to be worked on, unholstered to try new holsters, etc?

That's how Cabelas is, if it's being worked on or traded in it needs to be checked in up front.

Most gun stores are that way you can carry but it most stay in holstered if planning to sale or be repaired it must be unloaded before entering store.

Not sure the sign addressed that. Way I understood the wording ALL guns had to be empty and checked in at front

So scratch what I said. Apparently the wording on the sign is a bit misleading because a quick Google search will give you all sorts of questions because of the sign. Seems a lot of people read it the way i did. The wording is open a bit. Apparently concealed carry is okay.

I'll pass. Honey creek tackle would get and hold for me whatever I need. I'm good, anyway. My guess whatever I wanted would be gone by the time I got there.

I've killed turkeys with "rabbit loads" before. That was early in my "turkey hunting career". Right now I've got 5 MagBlends and 2 Nitros left. Both are 50+ yard shells out of my 870. Since the birds I and my grandson are killing are usually no more than 25 yards I've bought some Winchester LongBeard XRs #5 shot. I do need to pattern them to see how they do. I dont see any reason they wont pattern well at 25 yards or so. We will probably use them and IF Mt. Gobbler hangs up at 50 yards we will quietly slip in a MagBlend or Nitro and drop him. Thats the plan anyways. .

LB’s are my favorite so far. Haven’t tried any of the $20 a shot rounds yet but don’t plan on it either.
