Since a lot of folks talk about the buck “hit list” I thought I’d get in the game with my gobbler #1 hit lister “. .

About time for me to re-activate my cell cam, get some new batteries in it, and put it over a yearly dusting bowl.

Hitting scrapes during daylight hours, turkey rut is about to heat up! I wouldn't be surprised to see some chasing soon if this weather holds out.

It's all about the moon phase boys. But, during their rut, all bets are off. Just sit next to the hen bedding area. I got a buddy in Pulaski County that says he's seen some chasing over there already.

That's a great looking turkey, WW! You could paint half a barn with that brush. I bet he has some legit limb hangers too.

And this is exactly why indiana will never be a big turkey state. Needs another year. Let em go, let em grow.

Put up the ladder stand this past Saturday so they get used to them being there. Made sure it's high enough so they can't fly there.

And this is exactly why indiana will never be a big turkey state. Needs another year. Let em go, let em grow. But I’m a meat hunter. I don’t care about beards or spurs. I can’t afford a Butterball. I’m just trying to feed my family. Besides Indiana being known for giant trophy gobblers will bring in out of staters leasing up the turkey woods. Nothing good can come from managing for trophy gobblers. This one is going to get shot and put in a pot and eat him hot…

I saw two gobblers and a jake in the field behind my house this morning. Both the gobblers were nice birds.

The NEW Three Amigos! Last year there was three long beards that we dubbed The Three Amigos. On the second day of the season I reduced it to Two Amigos. This is this years edition

Nothing against trophy hunters, but I'm a meat hunter. I'll shoot the first legal bird I get in range. Never saw a recipe that called for use of the spurs, beard or fan. To each his own.
