I find it hilarious so many when such things come up, get ticked off about a private "club" or "organization" limiting those that have eligibility to join....I mean the outcry from "rights of the people" folks over such things makes me chuckle.
B&C have the ability and right to control themselves and their standards, hunters can and do have the ability and right to choose if that affects how they choose to legally hunt.

I didn’t see any discussion on the “GPS based technology” part in the article to entirely understand the concern. I guess its super helpful with public land scouting and note taking but not as important on private land where harvesting record level bucks is more realistic. Does that include things like huntstand or On-X? Those have GPS capabilities but also keep people from being lost or illegally on the incorrect properties. Heck, plain old smart phones have GPS capabilities. Pretty big stretch comparing use of a hunting app to compile information VS. having cellular trail cameras giving you exact location of animal in real time. JMO

JMO Like I said, I didn't read into the rules and was just wondering how far they went. Personally, none of their rules affect me at all. I have no desire to pay to see my name in a book. That is the first thing I said when I heard about Dusty's deer, of all of us that hunt the area he was the perfect person to get it.

The way I look at this is just this. If we can't utilize it, why make it available to consumers. It's our choice if we buy and use it, so what's the big deal. It still comes down to being at the right place at the right time anyway even if you don't choose to use the technology.
In all reality B&C was established in December 1887 and P&Y was established in 1961. The very 1st trail camera was invented by wildlife enthusiast George Shiras in the late 1880's.
So who's to say that this technically wasn't used, or either was never proven or asked if it was in use to harvest such a animal that was recorded in their books?

Cellular cameras that let you track in real time are the "Fair Chase" question. Regular trail cams not so much. Most states that are outlawing are during in season use only and some only on state owned lands. Outfitters in most cases are ones abusing there use.

Who cares. I am like Woody. I am not putting a animal in your club just to see my name. Now you want to pay me. Then that might be a different story. Idc what it scores. If it is legal and it makes you happy. Go for it.

As far as I know, B&C is a private entity that does not benefit from public funds. They can and should do as they please with regards to their rules and criteria. I could not care less.
It would be a frigid day south of the Earth's crust before I would pay to have my name in a book. Just my opinion.

I was talking with someone last week that had seen a picture of a water hole from out west that had over 30+ cameras set up on it!

Private just like Augusta national. Make your own rules and allow in whomever you want.
