Did that Oct 2020 to a job with much less stress and allows for fishing fridays. It was a big decision but not a hard one. I bet it will add years to my life! A night like tonight will do the exact opposite! Sad when you work with guys that will do ANYTHING not to come to work, over and over and over again. This guy has blown 5 weeks vacation and 40 hours sick time since July, and has never taken a planned day off. Unreal. It only hurts the rest of us, which is ME at night. OT here I come. Hang in there. Sucks when you have to take pull that kind of weight. Not sure what the job market is up there but everyone needs a good worker. May be a better fit out there

Off the cigarettes 4 days now. I am going to strangle my next-door neighbor tonight and take his pack though. I already have a lighter...

Stick with it greyhair, it's worth it in the end. I've never smoked but been around quite a few people who have and gave it up. They say it's the toughest thing they've ever done. "Nothing worth having ever comes easy"

I'm sure you will feel better once your lungs start to clear out. A heavy smoking coworker of mine just found out his torso is riddled with stage 4 cancer.

I am proud of you for taking that step, I got off cigarettes 22 years ago on January 1. My employer at the time paid me to quit that was my incentive as I had tried several times before. I do have health issues today COPD, heart disease that can be attributed to my smoking for almost 40 years or some of it could be agent orange who really knows. but again I am proud of you and stick with it, I know it’s hard.

Off the cigarettes 4 days now. I am going to strangle my next-door neighbor tonight and take his pack though. I already have a lighter... I smoked from age 19 to age 28 and then I quit. It was extremely tough to do. I remember as a kid we lived in a 4 room house, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. Outside toilet. I recall many times I would hear the alarm clock go off to get dad up for work. The second thing I’d hear was a Zippo lighter when he lit a cigarette. Then the coughing started. Fast forward to age 28 and that was me lighting a cigarette first thing and coughing my head off. My body was trying to tell me something. Something I swore back as a kid I would not do so I quit cold Turkey.Toughest thing I’ve ever done but I am so happy I did. A good friend of mine has smoked all his life and has severe lung problems and has had throat cancer. Surgery and radiation took care of the throat cancer but his lungs are shot.. He uses oxygen a lot and can’t go to the mailbox out front of his home without having to sit and rest afterwards. His life is miserable and this also effects his wife. But he still smokes. I doubt seriously he will make it through this year.. My advice is to quit ONE day at a time. You can do it but you have to really set your mind to it. Prayers for you.

2022- So far, so good. We shall press onward!! Not off to a good start here. My daughter was supposed to fly back to her base on Monday morning. She's had 2 cancelled fights so far. Hopefully she gets on her flight this afternoon...otherwise I will be doing a Cannon Ball Run style roadtrip to Arizona tonight. And I hurt my foot with about 2 minutes left in my indoor soccer game last night. I'm gimping around pretty good this morning. ...but it could always be worse. Hopefully, the rest of your year will be great!

Woody, the caretaker of the shooting range that I was a member of in San Clemente chain smoked. He had a lung removed, was on O2 and STILL smoked.

2022- So far, so good. We shall press onward!! I’m proud of myself. I haven’t bought a gun all year. It is not for the lack of trying. I have bought primers bullets and some cases. I did end 2021 with a bang though. Bought a 1957 Marlin 336 in 219 Zipper. About 95% condition with a period Weaver K10 sitting in Redfield mounts on top. It came with 28 rounds and dies.

Well my next door neighbor skated for another day...but there is always tomorrow.
I thought about a smash-and-grab at the mini-mart.
Anyone who has smoked a long time and quit knows how very tough it is. You can get cravings even months later .

Anyone who has smoked a long time and quit knows how very tough it is. You can get cravings even months later Oh yeah… Used to be when smokers could light up in a restaurant after a meal I once had a nice meal at a local restaurant and the guy at the next table lit one up. Naturally the smoke drifted my way. I wanted to do like you - go over and rip it out of his mouth a take a long drag off of it. A cigarette after a meal was habit I had. It took about six months before the smoke became repugnant to me. PLEASE stick with it one day at a time. You will be super glad that you did.

One big blessing is that I never smoked. My dad was a bigtime Camel chain smoker and hearing him was enough to never smoke. I have 4 brothers and 2 sisters and none of us smoke. That smoke and sounds was enough to scare all of us!

I'm pretty sure I irritated the mortons neuroma I had a few years ago. I just have to take it easy and let the swelling go down.

I'm looking forward to this year. My divorce should be final. I'll probably end up married again. I plan on doing a lot more fishing. I have plans for some upgrades to my house. I've already started on a few small projects. I have a much different life and outlook than I did this time last year. When I got married nearly 26 years ago (I'm still married) an older fella told me "a good woman is worth a million dollars,a bad one ain't worth fifty cents!" Truer words were never spoken, best of luck to you! I have been married to the same woman for 26yrs as well, I got a good one that lets me hunt as much as I want and knows it is my passion. If anything happened to us or her though I don't think I would get married again. Some people will ask what the hardest year of marriage is, some say it is the first some say it is the 3rd or so on, my mom says it is the year your in.

I still have a weak moment where it smells good but I have resisted the urge. Busted my daughter with a vape pen a few months ago. Took 1 drag off that just to see what it is like and those are awful. It was very hard to quit. No regrets at all

She's been gone for a little over 2 years and every day I think how lucky I was to Have shared my life with her for as long as I did.
