I got a doe this year and didn’t realize how big she was until trying to drag her out of a small ditch, then again when I tried to lift her into my SUV. Took me all of 30 minutes with multiple stops to rest before I finally got her in.
So picked up the meat from the butcher and ended up with over 57 lbs. I checked my records and my buck last year only yielded 43. I know there’s some variability based on ruined meat from shot placement and the skill and patience of the butcher, but I’m curious - what yield have others gotten from a big doe? I unfortunately didn’t get the deer weighed, but the butcher estimated it at 130+ dressed.
I’m curious if I’ll notice a difference in the taste with it being an older deer but will find out soon!
