I hunt Roush Lake and called the property before buying a bundle license, a no bonus tag area. I was told the bundle was good to use there. I needed to check in deer as to what season I killed them in. If I shot a deer during archery they were to be checked in as archery. All season/weapon limits were to be followed.

So the bundle can be used as 1 bonus tag? That the way the regs read to me? Or do you have to have a bonus tag with the bundle in a “1” county to kill a doe with rifle? This is as confusing as all get out!

This is as confusing as all get out! The bundle can be used for any of the regular tags, so yes you can use your bundle as a bonus tag......or 3 if your county allows it.

Thanks for the link. That website is really poorly written. "The opportunity to hunt antlered deer in the archery/crossbow, firearms, and muzzleloader seasons until you harvest an antlered deer." What does even mean? You can hunt a buck until you kill a buck? How is that a benefit? ... "or take your firearms out in the special antlerless season and try to harvest an antlerless deer." Uh, didn;t they eliminate that season?

1…. You don’t have to buy 3 tags which will cost you more $$$ when bought separately!
2…. No that season still exists just NO counties qualify for it THIS year.
Happy Hunting

In his case crossbow. Killed 2 does. 1 bonus antlerless county. Maybe 1 should have been checked archery , other bonus antlerless. Regardless he said a game warden came to house and wrote ticket. IDK That’s B.S. The hunter never should have gotten a ticket. Warning yes, but if you make rules so hard to understand and ambiguous the dnr need to give a hunter leeway. The hunter paid to kill 3 deer. I don’t see a problem here! I couldn't agree less. It is our job as hunters to know the rules/regs before setting foot in the field. Need clarification on a reg? Call DNR. Too many people post questions on Facebook and forums and get answers that are just completely wrong.

I see we can kill a doe during firearms with firearms license with an antlerless bonus permit. My question is does one need to shoot a buck before we can use the permit or can you have firearms license and kill the doe before the buck? The firearm license is only for an antlered deer. You do not have to buy a firearm license to shoot a non-antlered deer during firearms season, the bonus anterless license allows you to hunt anterless deer. The firearms license is the only type of the tool specific license (archery, crossbow, muzzleloader) that is not good for an antlered or antlerless deer.

Also for everyone claiming things need simplified they are heading that way. Give the Indiana Deer News Podcast episode with Moriah Boggess and the DNR proposals for license changes.

If I decide to go hunt anything, literally anywhere, it is my responsibility to make sure I’m doing so legally. Not anyone else’s.

One "deer" license to harvest one "deer". Easy peasy.

So how is an apprentice liscence work? I was always told it is the equivalent of a lifetime for the year.

For only three deer and doesn’t cover reduction zones…. LT covers it all!

True. I never had to worry about reduction zones. They took the one we had nearby away about maybe 10years ago or so.
