Ehhh. If you know finishers, it's not that great a stretch. Seen it all on the job. Had an owner get arrested for dui in the middle of a pour once.

Nothing surprises me when it comes to construction. It has gotten particularly ugly as of late, though. Pretty much can't work at a site without yelling and screaming, people being run off and fired, fights.

Back in the day, this would likely have been over with an apology, but today I wouldn't be surprised if the homeowner files a lawsuit against the company and the driver.

You cant block someone's driveway then refuse to move... Talking with guy before blocking him in would of saved a lot problems! Sometimes a lawsuit is how hardheaded people learn!

The finisher got arrested. Homeowner was yelling at driver and finisher and finisher smacked homeowner "Had an owner get arrested for dui in the middle of a pour once"Home owner got a DUI or Truck driver? Sorry. It was actually the owner of the finishing company. Someone followed him to the job sight while on the phone with P.D. Already pouring out of the truck when cops showed up. He didn't go willingly

I've ran into this many times while driving a mixer. You can't help blocking drives a lot of times. We just wait until it's done coming down the chute, finishers scrapes the last chute, we move and let em out and start again. I'd be willing to bet this homeowner just wanted everything done his way right now. If it was on the opposite hand and they were blocking the neighbors and pouring his drive he wouldn't be having a problem. Everyone full of self importance. Guarantee the driver didn't refuse to move, it just couldn't happen right now

They do what they are told. Isn't up to them to figure out the comings and going. Once we arrive at the job and get signed off, our liability ends for the most part. As far as blocking someone, I've been in situations where I've used my truck to impede traffic to protect the finishers especially on state jobs. Drivers just don't care.

The driver had zero to do with the smack

Should have moved. In Indiana, you cannot LEGALLY block ingress/egress to someone's property, no matter how big the truck is.

Should have moved. In Indiana, you cannot LEGALLY block ingress/egress to someone's property, no matter how big the truck is. I will guarantee you that the driver was at zero fault here and would have been more than willing to move. The scenario went like this. Driver was pouring and homeowner came out and started yelling, not asking, and things escalated quickly from there. The driver was nothing but a bystander and had zero choice and zero chance to change outcome. No one was permanently blocking. How would you expect someone to pour a sidewalk in front of someone's house? At some point your driveway is going to get blocked. All could have been avoided by a little patience and a simple, hey gotta go to work. Can I get out.
