I bought this new generator a few weeks ago and have it wired and ready for gas. I have it in the back corner of the barn in the utility room. In a week or two adding exhaust to the back outside and hooking up to a 100lb propane tank. I will have three 5 or 6 gallon gas cans. That gets me 36 hours run time on gas and 35 hours on propane. I'm ready for one of those Ohio valley ice storms, blizzards that we get about every 20 years, or something else.

The Co-Op in the industrial park in Ft Wayne sells an Ethanol free 91? octane gas. It stores better than the Ethanol gas. I use it in my boat and other 2 cycle gas.

Luckily I have a place about 5 miles from me that sells ethanol free gas. I need to use that gas more often for my small engines. So much better. I'm planning to buy some alcohol additives. I plan to rotate the three cans during the summer when cutting grass. That way it's only during the winter 4 or 5 months . Thanks.

I'd just run it on propane and not even think about gasoline.

I'd just run it on propane and not even think about gasoline. Yep…. The oil will always look clean No concerns about gunking up a carb, no worries about rotating gas, etc. If you fire it up on gas, then you have to at the very least clean out the carb and gas tank or fire it up once a month and run the stale gas out of it & refresh it. Got a propane whole house genset at one place, if I were to get one for here I'd run it on natural gas. No nat gas at the other place but there are two 1,000 gallon propane tanks there. If I had to buy one that ran on a liquid, I'd go buy one that ran on diesel before I'd get one that ran on gasoline.

My house runs on propane. It would be best to hook it up to my 500 gallon tank. The run is only 40 feet.

At the very least have a hookup already plumbed so if and when the 100# bottle runs out you can just swap over to the bigger tank. I run one tank down to almost nothing before swapping to the other tank, that way if something were to happen both tanks wouldn't be empty at the same time.
