I am teaching a class about tree i.d. to 4-h kids soon. I haven't used a book in several years. Does anyone have any suggestions on material I could print or a book I could buy that puts things on a kids level? I had a book called 50 trees of indiana as a kid but it is no longer in print. it started with difference between conifer and deciduous trees and worked from there. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

No suggestions for a book but to find the one you used to have try eBay.
Also your county extension office may have some.

Not really intended for kids but has photos of most of Indiana's trees.
Charles C Deam, Trees of Indiana
It is good for amature to pro level details. Shows where they have been found in Indiana etc...

Indiana Joe, where you located? There is a pretty good book put out by the USDA called the Crop Tree Field Guide. I picked it up at our last Indiana Soil & Water Board Annual Conference. It covers Appalachians, but has all the Indiana Trees in it, plus how to identify. Only area it is lacking in is conifers.

I would check with the Indiana Native Plant Society. If you are on FB they have a public group.

This is a nice little one I picked up a few years ago that’s very simple for tree ID based on leaves $6 on Amazon.
