Oh my word the fools are out in full force online about all these…. I didn't think mine was bad, but some of them are a bit extreme I think.

Folks just cannot read and understand key words like proposals are not laws yet, catch the difference or understand the difference between seasons and licenses….seriously folks wonder why sometimes hunters get attacked as ignorant red necks but then we justify the thoughts as a group….

Bet folks working the DNR both will getting some interesting questions the next few weeks 😊 I couldn't take off work to work the fair this year. After seeing this, I'm kinda glad. Then again, the officers have an easy answer for all the questions about this. It's proposed changes and they have no opinion or comment about something that hasn't been implemented.

Making archery tags antlered only would screw guys that hunt public as thats the only way you can take a doe on most state land is with archery equipment. I believe guys in that situation that would normally pass a small buck for that doe would be more likely to take that small buck.

This is one of the items I wrote down for when I have the interview with Moriah or even someone else on the podcast soon.

Hopefully they do some public meetings around the state like happened with Prop 1 several years ago and not just push through this list.

How would you kill a doe on a fwa if they changed those licenses to antlered only?

How would you kill a doe on a fwa if they changed those licenses to antlered only? They could just change the FWA rule… I bet the farm that very question has a answer thought out already.

I assume the idea behind making archery and Muzzleloader ( firearms always was? Great wording as usual ) antlered only is to reduce the impact on the doe population? That can be accomplished with the reduction of the bonus Quotas, like they have needed to do for years. Dumb idea, and it would mess with hunters in public areas, so leave the Archery & Muzzy Licenses alone, iMO.
If they reduce that bundle by one deer the confusion will last for CENTURIES. Thank the Lord someone else sells tags these days, lol. ( and is the price gonna go down?) That said, I think it's a good Idea overall.
Number two might be a good idea.

The CWD plan is not quite as "scorched earth" as I was afraid they were planning.
The first list of proposals is a step in the right direction IMO in cleaning up some messy regs. I would still like to see simple buck tags and doe tags issued, without breaking them apart by method.
I'm sure a mechanism will be put into place to allow harvest of antlerless deer on state lands where antlerless harvest is deemed appropriate. It does seem like they're trying to pivot out of reduction mode, which is surprising (but a relief IMO) given the growing CWD concerns.

I probably will this year though since I am more than likely going to be gifted one.
