One of the "Mid-States Corridor" potential routes runs through my place. I sure hope they pick one of the other identified routes. If they do come through, I'd prefer they put it right through the house, rather than just alongside the property line. I'd rather move than live next to a highway. I'm hoping the re-newed kick to upgrade US 231 will take the place of the Mid-State Corridor, but I wouldn't count it out yet.

When they expanded Highway 50 by me years ago on guy fought it and fought it to save his house. They got it of course. That tends to be what happens.

Is there any new information regarding the proposed road?

That whole project seems like a "solution looking for a problem" and will tear up a lot of good habitat.

Is there any new information regarding the proposed road? As far as I know, it's an approved project and it is 8n the route determination phase.

I'm hoping to buy a small farm in one of the 3 counties (mostly Ohio or Switzerland) in a couple years. I hope it holds off at least a few more years.

Options O and M of the Mid-States Corridor are especially brutal. The Indiana Karst Conservancy is leading an effort to stop it, and the decision is due in mid-April. One of the options is no-build, but that is just there for window dressing. O or M will destroy one of the most unique and pristine karst landscapes in the country.
I think they will announce Option O, because it goes through French Lick. The process is really not about efficiency, it is just made to look that way. It is solely about economic benefit, usually to hidden interests.

Right - I was just adding another example-another solution in search of a problem.

A straight line from Markland Dam to Route 101 at US 50 goes right through my brothers farm. I guess if it is built it will be close by.

A map of the general area being proposed for a State Road 101 extention from Markland Dam on the Indiana-Kentucky border to US 50 near Milan. The route would connect I-74 in Indiana with I-71 in Kentucky and provide another cross-river route for freight traffic at Markland Dam Bridge. t.co/EEmCDnzcO7

Is anyone who is opposed to this interested in forming an organized group?

Is anyone who is opposed to this interested in forming an organized group? You live in the path or close by? Send your state Rep a email and see if he has any updates on the project.

New roads mean economic progress. You probably wont find many takers on here. Yeah, we all hate losing habitat, but you can always hunt elsewhere.
