When you turn the key to run, do you hear the girl pump prime? Is it loud or subtle? No noise is no fuel pump. A loud prime is an indication the fuel pump is on its way out. Does the fuel gauge work correctly? A non-functioning fuel gauge is also related to the fuel pump. I want a girl pump! Any who. On my 04 sportrack the fuel pump was running but you couldn't here it. The pressure was really low. Changed the pump and same thing low fuel pressure. Come to find out it has a FPDM. Fuel pump driver module that controls the speed of the fuel pump and it was only giving the pump 4VDC when it should have been higher. The pump speeds up and slows down by the FPDM. Changed that and works great now.

I'll have to listen next time I start up my '04 Sport Trac I'll have to try to listen for the pump.

Not yet and that’s hard to believe I pull heavy trailers with it load it down more than I should I tend to be a bit hard on them My oldest son got his license 4 or 5 months ago and has mostly been driving my 2000 F150. I drove it last week and the transmission slipped on me. When it hit 100,000 miles I had to have the tranny rebuilt, and I had it beefed up. It now has ~240,000 mi and should NOT be having issues. Teenage drivers...

Hopefully it makes it till I trade it in I get a new truck every 2.5 to 3 years I put so many miles on them 50 thousand a year is not out of the question at all I put 36 miles everyday just going and coming home from work. Winters are real bad a lot of my customers have lake places so they may want a new furnace and air or a lot of them do remodeling and so do a lot of the builders I work for so they are ready for spring summer sometimes it 60 70 miles just to get to the job.

I think it's got to be something pretty specific. it's done it a couple more times and it's always the exact same amount of time. Croaks instantly. and then starts back up, I shall let y'all know what they find out. This issue has to get in line with about 100 others at the homestead.

It just flashes when you give it an unusual (for me ) amount of gas. I'm not the kind of dude that floors it between stoplights, so I only see it when climbing a big hill or passing. Then it goes off! Been thinking about a scan tool. I just ordered that one based on your recommendation, as I would be flying blind otherwise. If it doesn't work I blame you.

Catalytic converter clogged? Bad throttle position sensor? I only owned one chevy, not saying they are bad but these are the problems I had with mine.
