That will definitely not help their cause.

Just in time for Riot season!
NEGLIGENT discharge is not an accident.
It is NEGLIGENCE.

This is a tragedy that could have been avoided. Yes, gross negligence from the officer and she should face appropriate punishment.
Let's not overlook the fact that this young man put himself into harms way. I'm not attempting to make light of his death, but he would not be dead right now if he had followed the officers' orders.

Any one of color can slip on a peel during a traffic stop and the police officer is guilty of abuse.

Yes but you never hear about that what you will hear is He was such a good boy went to church every Sunday worked at the soup kitchen and was a model citizen It’s a shame he lost his life along with the other people that have but you just can’t run try and push or threaten the officers honestly you could not pay enough to be a cop today.

Any one of color can slip on a peel during a traffic stop and the police officer is guilty of abuse. I feel for her, but the officer made a mistake that you just can't make. Yes the guy had a criminal record and outstanding warrants, but in the end she shot and killed an unarmed man and accident or not, she'll have to answer for it.

I would like to see her duty belt set-up. I never carried a taser, only the full time guys did, but I know they set their belt up with either a cross body draw or weak hand draw for the taser. Honestly I can't recall any of the officers I spend time with not having the taser and gun separated severely.
As for if she should have known by feel, everybody responds to an adrenaline spike differently. BUT, she is (and should be held) accountable for her actions.

I heard the Chief of the department saying that their belts are set up with their pistol on their strong side and the taser on the other side.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, my post was just in general what happens to police when they enforce the law. Anymore the police are guilty until proven innocent.

Remember when only law enforcement could be trusted with weapons of war, but then we were defunding them, and now they can be trusted with weapons of war again. Fun times.
The only way this ends well for the officer, is an over zealous prosecuter that goes after an impossible charge.

I'm not making light of it either, but dang it, listed to what the officer is telling you and none of this would have happened.

The officer involved in the shooting and the Chief of Police have both resigned.

That was my first question; well with that I don’t see this going well
