I've read that the Celtics aren't happy with the direction the team is going, but is Stevens interested in leaving Boston for Bloomington? I have no idea, but I would be surprised if it happened.
I've heard Rick Pitino's name bandied about, but why would IU hire him? He left quite the mess @ Louisville and the NCAA still isn't finished handing down punishments, so I don't see Pitino headed for Bloomington either. Plus @ 68 he would be a short term hire @ best.
I know this might now go down well on this forum, but in reality the IU job isn't the job it once was and as such, getting a top coach may be tough to do. In the last 21 years (since Knight was fired) IU has had 5 coaches, won 3 big ten titles and the teams average winning percentage is a mediocre .568.
So who will the next coach be? I have no idea, but IU can't afford another bad pick. The fans have been patient, but it's way past time for IU to hire a coach who can get this mess straightened out.

Might they take another look at Dane Fife?

The curse of RMK. I do hope they get a good coach this time. Pitino seems like a good option, honestly. BOILER UP!

The curse of RMK. I do hope they get a good coach this time. Pitino seems like a good option, honestly. BOILER UP! Pitino can coach, but he's 68 years old (and likely won't coach that much longer), left a mess in Louisville and still may be punished by the NCAA, so I think he's a hard pass. The real issue IMO is that Indiana has made mistake after mistake in their coaching choices and those choices are still haunting IU. After Coach Knight was fired, IU made their first mistake by caving to the players who threatened to leave if Mike Davis wasn't named head coach. Davis was a decent coach, but struggled to recruit and his record (after Knights last recruits were gone) reflect that. The second dumb move that was made after that was hiring Kelvin Sampson. He was cheater @ OKlahoma and even when IU took a chance on him, he cheated while @ IU as well. Dumb move. Tom Crean's issue was that after cleaning up the Sampson mess, his teams weren't consist enough to keep the wins coming as the years passed. As for Archie Miller, his record makes Tom Crean look like a basketball genius. His teams will be remembered for having good talent, but lousy execution. Miller's teams blew leads like nobody's business and failed to compete. Is IU a destination job anymore? When you look back @ the last 20+ years, it's tough for me to say that it is, but I hope that the new coach is a good fit and can make IU competitive again. The days of pulling off what Bob Knight did (especially early in his career @ IU) isn't realistic. But I think that finishing in the top half of the Big Ten most years and going to the NCAA tournament on a regular basis shouldn't be.

Everything I have read about Stevens is he did not like recruiting at all in college.
Thad Matta is setting up there living in Indy but why give up retirement for all that stress.

I would like to see Stevens, but he signed a contract extension in 2020, so??
It will be interesting.

Rinse and repeat...Archie was a good coach at Dayton. Crean was a good coach before and had some incredible teams that underperformed at IU.
IU is cursed for sure. OSU and IL coaches were hired same year as Archie. Hope IU finds a good leader soon.
I hope one day to be fired like Archie, with a $10m check handed over to me!

Latest I heard was Steven is on thin ice in Boston. IU is going to throw a Brinks truck at him and see what happens. Of course that will change an hour from now.

Matta sounds good but I looked him up to refresh my memory and he retired due to health issues.
There has to be another Brad Underwood out there.

My only issue with him is the fact that @ 68 years of age, he's a short timer. IU needs a coach that can build a program and stay with it.

Stevens, said in radio interview he was flattered to be considered but not interested. Rule #1 in changing jobs...don't let current employer know you are looking unless you really want to stay and use that as a tool for negotiating. Not saying he is or isn't but he probably couldn't say anything until "Is" are dotted and "Ts" crossed with a formal announcement.

They brought up Keith Smart in an article I read today. Very interesting article. Sounds like a really good guy on and off the court.

She cracked the code to making IUWBB a competitive team. Different conditions for sure but she has been a steady climb from the bottom.

Teri has done a great job. She use to be a heck of a player too. She would come in and play against the boys in high school and be better than most of them.

Rumor is some donors put up some big cash to try and get Stevens.
