I had to clean the flame sensor a couple times on our old furnace. It would try and fire up but then shut down. It would do that a couple times and then not try anymore until I reset the switch on the side of the furnace. Looks kinda like an igniter on a grill. Just lightly emery cloth the wire looking end and replace.

Another question is it lp gas or nat gas natural gas Than it’s not another problem I was thinking happens when on LP gas

I hate to be "that guy", but it could be as easy as some bad batteries in your current thermostat. It's a cheap and easy check... I put a new batter in it a couple of days ago. I put a new thermostat on it this afternoon. Forgot about batteries we hard wire ours with a common wire so you don’t have that issue with batteries going dead even if they do your system will work

Thanks for all the advice. The update is I did not notice any problem this morning with it shutting down before reaching temperature this morning after putting a new thermostat on. However, I did once find that the thermostat had lost power once and I had to take it off the wall and push back onto the mount.
