When Cabela's is removing shelves that used to hold ammo because they can't fill them up, and the gun room is bare and closed. The shelves that they typically had both pistol and rifle ammo on were flat out gone from the store, and there was an empty space where the shelves used to be. The ONLY shotgun ammo they had was TSS shells by Browning and they had them spaced 1 box of shells every 18" or so on the shelves to make it look like they had some sort of inventory. @ 54.99/box of 5, I wonder how many they will be selling. Most had shot in them that wasn't legal to use in Indiana too.... This is ALL they had for centerfire rifle and pistol ammo, and I bought the last 2 boxes of pistol ammo (.480 Ruger) Absolutely ZERO rimfire ammo. Here is their gun room.....

From the article I read the ammo places ect. ,since Trump was in office, weren't up to full capacity production. Also didnt/don't have enough trained personnel to get the production up to full capacity because the demand wasn't high enough. They weren't ready for this but they should have known and got ready just in case. You just can't take Joe Shmoe off the street and have him making ammo without alot of training. So its gonna be years before its back in supply and prices will not be even close to what it was.

Doesn't sound like they going to do anything substantial to increase capacity.

It requires a bit more looking around than normal, and the cost is up significantly, but you can find just about any kind of ammo you want. The "real gun shops" and good online dealers either have some stuff in stock or can get you what you need pretty soon.
Walk in box stores like Cabelas, Rural King, Dunhams, etc. have been picked clean for a long time.

The things the man from Federal were saying in the video are the same things that were said after Sandy Hook. Throw in the fact that Biden has talked about adding a 50% tax on ammo and a 30% tax on firearms and that's a lot of uncertainty on what the shooting/hunting markets will be like as time goes on. Building another ammo plant won't be cost effective if demand drops in a year or two. In the near term, one thing that should help to some extent is Vista Outdoors (who owns Federal, Fusion, CCI and now Remington ammo) getting the Remington plant back up and running @ full capacity.
Throw in the fact that there are a lot of new shooters, and plenty of shooters/hunters hoarding ammo and it's hardly surprising that there are major shortages of ammo.
If people would take a couple of boxes instead of cleaning out the shelves there might be a bit more available ammo. If not we'll all be dealing with what's happening now and that's paying 2 or 3 times what we were paying before this shortage or not being able to buy ammo @ all.

Crazy stuff. Probably last at least four years! Next four years? I think this will last longer than that. This election was so blatantly stolen and not one thing done to stop it. I have a hard time invisioning a Republican Senate, House or Presidency in any distant future. The insurmountable damage will be so wide spread. I truly hope and pray that I get the chance to eat these words.

I was in the Noblesville Cabelas Saturday. They had a handful of ammo, 3 boxes of 25 and, some 410, steel shot 12 gauge, valkyrie, etc. Basically a hodge podge of crap. The problem is people like the guy in front of me in line. Had an armload of ammo, from this junk selection. And if you can judge a book by its cover this guy has never shot a gun in his life. He was just fear buying whatever he could get his hands on.

I not gonna help the buying thats for sure. If its not close to normal prices I'll pass. And I'm not gonna sell what I got at crazy prices even though I could make a years salary in a few weeks.

Crazy stuff. Probably last at least four years! If this lasts four years, I'd hate to see what state the gun/ammo industry would be in. I can't imagine people will continue to purchase firearms if you can't buy ammo. That would be like buying a car, but you can't buy fuel for it.

Democrat in president seat is the gun industries salesman of the year/decade. Been happening since Clinton. I was too young to realize prior to that.

I picked up some 22 hornet and 16 gauge shells at Madison outdoors in Madidon. He had plenty of ammo and a good selection of powder. Just no primers.

I don't see it lasting that long. It happens every time a dem gets the big office or if they control both chambers. I just think it will take a little while for the supply to trickle back in. Everyone is just out buying cause they are anxious about what will happen.
I'm running a little low on .223 and 40 cal, I'll wait it out, sooner or later I'll come across some. I am so busy with other projects I don't really have that much time to go out and shoot let alone burn thru a box or 2. Now come mid april I'll need some. Have to relocate a beaver den with around 30 or so pounds of tannerite.
