Most likely just like all other construction in odd or congested areas.

They are trying to shift everyone over to 67...which is my commute. I'm hoping everyone goes back to 37 on 144 or I might be taking the "back way" to work when I get back to going in full time.

Ya know what. If idiots didn't drive like idiots it wouldn't have to be that way. I do a lot of work on the 37 stretch and it's downright dangerous for the guys on the ground. I'm in a 80,000 pound vehicle so doesn't bother me as much. What amazes me the most is commercial drivers that drive worse than the ones on 4 wheels. Either way, suffer for a year and everything gets done, more than likely ahead of schedule or suffer for 2-3 years because we have to worry about leaving two lanes open here or there. Shut down for several hours here and there for semi's dropping off beams. It's next to impossible to deliver concrete on indots time frame when you have to fight traffic both ways. The amount of waste on that stretch already is astronomical.

The saddest part is all this money, construction adversity, and land loss is to make the drive from Evansville to Indianapolis 20 minutes shorter.

Have you driven from Bloomington to Evansville on that stretch of 69 yet? Absolute ghost town. No matter the time of day I drive it, the lack of traffic never ceases to amaze me.

No, but 37 north from Bloomington through the construction was enough to encourage me to find another path.

We live at Lake Edgewood. Our exit from the community onto 67 isn't bad normally except on particularly busy weekends like when the students are coming in for the fall or when IU is having a home game. But on those fairly frequent occasions, it's not unusual to wait five minutes just to make a right onto 67, and sometimes nearly as long to catch a gap to go north if you're caught in the crossover.
I expect those wait times will be pretty normal to access 67 at the bottom of the hill a couple hundred yards from my house.
We do have a "back way" to get out to get groceries, though. The shortest way to get to Martinsville when 67 is congested would be to take a route that includes a couple of country two-lanes and comes out to 67 at the stoplight at the bridge over White River, but when it gets crowded the traffic is already backed up on the bypass. They have widened it this year and included a couple more turn lanes that will probably help, but I expect it will still be a major bottleneck.
I'm thinking I'll take the back road through Wilbur and either up to the Mooresville Kroger or up 39 to Monrovia and Fraberg's supermarket. The Mooresville Kroger does have the outside pickup like the one in Martinsville, so I'll be using it first and other options later depending on the pandemic situation.
Some of the "back road" options are going to be better than others. Earlier in the year when there was still work ongoing in the stretch of 37 south of Martinsville, the traffic on the back roads was pretty intense in areas where there is normally not another car in sight. That unofficial detour route only lasted a couple months and never had much truck traffic, but it had some folks grumbling about waiting to get out of their driveways.
I bet some of the farm equipment creeping along some of those barely two-lane road will cause some major local backups in the busy seasons. Glad I'm retired. Still going to be enough of a nuisance just getting out for groceries and a few necessities we can't get delivered.

Awhile back I got a over all pamphlet in the mail from Edward Jones describing opportunities for one to invest in stocks or bonds. Looking over it, and targeting the possibilities for Indiana I saw some bonds for Section 6 of the "new and improved I-69". Hmmmm, our illustrious Governor has repeatedly stated that I-69 was paid for and will soon be completed. In my world, "paid for" means no more checks going out to pay for that project but I find that I can purchase 30 year bonds to pay the for the final work. Years ago when the wife and I had a new house built and any and all bills were paid off, we still did not own the house as the loan to pay for all of that consisted of monthly payments that was strung out over 20 years, plus we had to put the banks name as part owners of the lot that we had owned outright for several years. Now if the last section of I-69 is supposedly paid for, how can it be paid for if the State is still paying of all those bonds for 30 years. Ah, yes, it's called "smoke and mirrors"! Anybody care to describe how I am wrong in my assessment of how I see things?
