I donated blood again today. I do when I'm available. I'm O negative and CMV (cytomegalovirus) negative. Almost all my blood goes to pre-mature babies. My blood will be used within 24 hours.

I donate whenever they have a drive at work or in our hometown. I need to find a place to donate soon. After March 11th I won't be able to for a year I think.

If you’re talking because of a tattoo the state did relax the rules on that because they were short on blood. Not sure of the timeline now, but I don’t think it’s a year. I used to donate at work every other month. Our work is the biggest contributors in the state as far as work blood drives. I haven’t done it in a good while and need to.

The time limit is different depending on which state you get the tattoo. The last time it was an issue I remember them telling me that if I got the tattoo in Indiana the wait time was longer than if I had got it done in Ohio or Kentucky. I guess Indiana health codes aren't as strict as other states. It will be a while no matter what. I have appointments booked every three weeks until May

Good for you, thats a great gift.
I stopped giving for two reasons. I got tired of losing the use of my left arm for two weeks cause of the bruising from poor IV placement, (healthcare protip, always take the advice of the person youre putting the IV in) and the ridiculous amounts of phone calls received.

I hate all the calls too. I had to block their phone number. I organized a blood drive at the volly fire department I used to be a member of. The Red Cross pre-scheduled us for another one the next year, I ended up having to cancel it just from all the complaints over phone calls.

They won’t take mine, and I need periodic draws
