I’m a tightwad and I’ve been nursing this 5S IPhone along for years. I read somewhere that in 2021 the 5S will no longer be supported?
So that brings me to the question of - Which smart phone do you recommend and why?
I’d like to stick with AT & T as a provider.
Thanks.....

If you want to stick with an iphone, I think the best value they have right now is the iphone se 2020. It's been described as an iphone 11 in an iphone 8 body. They retail for $399.00 My 20 year old daughter has one and she lives on the thing and is satisfied with it. I have an a fairly new iphone 11 and offered to trade her and she said she'd keep the se. Here's a link... www.att.com/buy/phones/apple-iphone-se-2020-64gb-white.htmlI was looking around on the internet and it appears that the 5s will still work with the latest updates. I would call your provider and find out where you stand with your phone before purchasing something else (unless it doesn't hold a charge very well or is giving you issues of some sort).

I avoid anything apple. I never did like using iTunes years ago when the iPods came out. I'm not sure how they work now. Apple would slow down older phones when they would release newer models. That's pretty shady business. They settled a class action lawsuit over it.
My last few phones have been Samsung. I like being able to drag and drop songs or pictures. My Samsung S9 takes much better pictures than my wife's iPhone. Camera quality and battery life are two of the biggest factors when I choose a phone. The camera on the new samsung S20 is amazing.

If you’re use to a iPhone platform stay with the iPhone.
If you have used or know anyone that works on iPhone ask them what model they recommend from working on them... Some iPhone have a good history some don’t.
I went from a 5c to 8 last year and have zero problems.... that what a repair person recommended I get!

Can't help ya. I am using a Samsung. Switched from a 10 year old S4 to a S20+ a few months ago. You'd think that for the $$ they could get the voice to text working better than what it does in areas that have poor signal, but it's like they took a big step backwards from how well it worked on the S4. So far the battery life has been much better, but I'm not a fan of not being able to change the battery if needed like I could on the S4. I did a lot of looking and found out that the camera on the S20+ was a LOT better than the S20 Ultra.

I went from a iPhone se to the 11 pro max for the screen size. Can’t say I see much difference except the screen size.

I went to a Samsung S10??. I use trackfone service and I have no complaints. Battery life is good. Camera seems good too. I have had Trackfone for years. I like it as I can add minutes, data, and text as needed. The unused rolls over.

My wife and I are Android users, and I don`t know how that would translate to being able to recommend a phone that`s Apple IOS, but we`ve had Samsung as long as we`ve had a smart phone, so that`s all we really know, but we like them.
We had AT&T, and they had really great coverage, but they got to be pretty arrogant and expensive, so we went to T-Mobile, with their 55+ plan, which is unlimited everything, for quite a bit less than the AT&T plan that only gave us 2Gigs per month to share.
But anyway, we currently have Samsung S10e phones, and they`re pretty good I guess.

I upgraded last year as a tightass S5 and jumped to S8. Didn't by the latest so maybe I'm a tightwad.

I like my XR. Depends on your budget. If you are used to an Apple I would not switch. A few of my family members have Androids and I have to use theirs some. I’m staying with Apple.

So I have to be that guy? How many members on here and ALWAYS I have to be that guy??? Okay, fine.
You've seen the commercials. The jitterbug is a real nice phone papaw. No, it's not a "old people's" phone. All the cool kids in school carry one. With your age and the fact you use AOS instead of android, I'd highly suggest.

Just get the most expensive one and pay monthly like most of society does everything else.
