Before anyone gets their undies in a wad, I an NOT anti-education. I do, however, think that college is a scam for the most part. I say that because students are forced to take useless classes that are unrelated to their given major. Does anyone care what grade their accountant got in microbiology? Or how their dentist did in European literature? Not me. Why are college students forced to take P.E electives that don't have anything to do with physical activity. My roommate at Vincennes was sure wore out after every orienteering class session.
My point is that, if not for so many electives, student debt would not be so enormous.
What about useless degrees? Granted, most of the blame goes to the student themself. My neighbor just graduated from a private college with a degree in political science and has north of $200k in student loans. His intentions were to go to law school, but that didn't work out. He is studying to get his mortgage license. I think anyone with a pulse can take that test. My friend's daughter graduated with honors (and debt) from IU with some sort of a literature/history degree. She's been out of school for at least five years and is his secretary, which is what she did before going to college. Why should anyone else be on the hook for their debts?

Why should anyone else be on the hook for their debts? That question answers itself...Not I, nor YOU should be obligated to pay ANYONE else`s debt. PERIOD.

It's to buy your future votes, with taxpayer money.

The colleges and universities knew eventually the government would bail people out. That is why they charge so much it is a scam. We paid off all mamas IU and I worked summers to get through Purdue myself. So, screw your bailout IMO I pay my bills
