Every year I get the bundle license. When checking in a doe it asks if I want to include the deer as my bonus antlerless deer. I’m curious why this is an option? As far as I know I get two antlerless and one buck with this license. Why should I care about this?

I believe that they're just wanting to know if you're using a bonus antlerless tag that you can purchase along with the bundle. In Jasper County, for instance, I can get two antlerless with my bundle plus I can purchase 2 more bonus antlerless tags.

If you kill a doe with a gun it has to be checked in as a bonus antlerless even with your bundle, so it goes against that counties quota.

This^^^^^...... and read below
Bonus antlerless licenses can be used in any season, except the Reduction Zone Season and prior to Nov. 26 for counties designated as “A.” One must use the equipment that is legal during that season
County quotas range from A to 3. For counties designated as an A, a bonus antlerless license can be used to take one antlerless deer from Nov. 26, 2020 through Jan. 3, 2021 (the last four days of regular firearms season, plus muzzleloader season and the remainder of archery season). Bonus antlerless licenses cannot be used in A counties prior to Nov. 26. For counties designated 1 to 3, hunters may take additional antlerless deer but cannot exceed the county quota. Counties without a Bonus Antlerless Quota of “A” are eligible for the special antlerless firearms season (Dec. 26, 2020-Jan. 3, 2021).
Antlerless deer harvested with the deer license bundle must be used toward the bag limit for bonus antlerless deer in that county as well as the archery, muzzleloader, and special antlerless firearms bag limits. For example, during archery season the third antlerless deer harvested counts toward the bonus antlerless county quota, in firearms season any antlerless deer harvested must count toward the antlerless quota, and during muzzleloader season, the second antlerless deer counts toward the county quota.

I bet there is a boat load of incorrect info submitted when checking in deer nowadays. I understand the rules, but if you dont keep up or are not very literate, I agree the rules would be very confusing!

As far as I know I get two antlerless and one buck with this license. Why should I care about this? The option is there because the bundle can be used the entire year. If you shoot a doe in October and check "no" you only have one archery deer left. If you check "yes" you can still kill both remaining deer with archery. If you kill an antlerless deer during muzzleloader season and check "no" then your muzzleloader deer is done. If at that point you hadn't killed an antlered deer then your only option for and antlered deer would be archery. All antlerless killed with a gun during firearms season needs to be checked as "yes" count against the county quota.

Wow! Thanks for the info guys. I’m very embarrassed to say that I was definitely not up to speed on this. I didn’t realize that seasonal tags were still effected. Glad I asked!!!

When I called Roush Lake about the use of the Bundle to check in deer killed on their property I was told this; > I could not use the tags as a bonus tag for Huntington County > If I shot a doe in bow or ML season I had to check her in against my bow or ML bag limit > Bucks would be checked in under the correct weapon / season
At F&W areas up here we are not to use bonus tags.

Assuming that’s correct, I’ve been doing this wrong lol I’ve been tagging all of my does as bonus antlerless, assuming they counted towards my county quota. Ope.
