Long story short, I had no intention of using these 180grain soft points, but I kind of forgot about the pending election shortage, and it was all I could find.
Opening of gun season morning I hit a doe just behind the shoulder on a slight quartering away. Should have been dead, but the bullet passed through and hit another doe in the hind leg,the only way that could have happened was if it deflected. Both does bedded but in the chaos and confusion I lost track of the first.
Managed a kill shot on the second doe and found a sad excuse for an entrance wound on her hind leg, almost as if the bullet never expanded (and I highly suspect it didnt).
Tracked the first doe a few hundred yards and to 3 different beds till we lost blood. She should have dropped dead under 100.
All that said, I think my shot placement could have been better, I didnt notice the quartering at the time of the shot (thank you camera), but bullet performance could be better.

YouTube vids show the 180gr being a little tough for the velocity. I handloaded the 170gr Hdy spire point, and it blew an entrance hole the size of a baseball, but did not exit, on a good sized buck. About 80yd shot, and went 70-80yd with poor blood. My doe was spined. My buddy shot 2, with Winchester Deer Season xp 150gr. They exited even with a shoulder shot. They are quite a bit more velocity and accurate as all heck. I have a couple boxes, and will likely use those next time.

I dont have my notes handy but the 180gr was not that impressive through a chrono. I jave 13 rounds of the hornady 165gr ftx left. I may run to the range and verify a 50 yard zero and get at it with those.

All 4 of the factory loads I got, plus my handload, shoot close at 100yds. No more than 2-3" difference. That's thru an 18" BCA cheapy.
That's 150gr, 165, 170, 180, and my 170gr handloads. That's pretty remarkable!

That's pretty remarkable! Im shooting an 18" BCA side charging upper lol. Sub $300 upper iirc. The accuracy has been phenomenal. And if i am remembering correctly, i originally sighted it in with the 165gt but when i went to the 180, i didnt make any scope adjustments
